ANALYSIS OF DATA FOR GAS LEAK PROBLEMS IN GENERATOR

The corrective action taken on the stage-II gas drier like replacing the
12 mm rubber cord with 3mm permanite gasket and modifying the top cover
of the gas drier was reviewed and the problem has considerably reduced.
The problem of frequent failure of the ET vacuum pump and the last
committee decision to change the raw water with DM water as it was originally
available , was reviewed and the modification has been carried out in one
pump in unit No. 4 and one pump in unit no. 6 and the pump is performance
is good. Originally between 2001 to 2005 there were totally 24 major
reconditioning work in ET Vacuum pump and now after modification the no. of
complaints on ET Vacuum pump has come down. The committee decided to
implement in the modification during the next major shut down in other pumps
also.
The unit No. 1 vibration problem is to be followed up after rolling of the
T.G. As the seal ring and the bearing is changed and the L.P and H.P and I.P
rotors are changed it is expected that the vibration problem will be solved.
