MOST - In-Car Infotainment Trends

Number of Multimedia Components in Vehicle Platforms

More and more features and

components per car
Introduced in luxury
segment but migrating into
mid and low range
Components increasingly
interact to provide higher
value features
Issues with that:

Need for extensive

exchange of signals
Complexity and weight of
cabling
Avoiding Electromagnetic
Emissions becomes more
complex

Summary
MOST is the de-facto standard for multimedia networking in vehicles
MOST Cooperation looks back on 10 years of successful cooperation
and standardization work
Highly efficient network bandwidth utilization with very high Quality of
Service
Latest generation runs at 150 Mbps using conventional POF based
optical wire harness
Multiple A/V streams can be transported with minimal hardware and
software overhead over the new isochronous channels
MOST provides an Ethernet channel Ethernet applications can
communicate unchanged
MOST is an auto grade physical layer for Ethernet and IP
communication
