When I attended an entrepreneurial class in semester 5, My lecturer assigned

me a group task to prepare a business plan related to the discipline that we took
(mechanical engineering). At that time, I and the other five friends of mine agreed
to make a business plan to recycle used plastic bottles (PET). We managed to
complete the task in a few days. However, a problem arose when we doublechecked the total profit per month which indicated a negative value. After we
examined it, it turned out that the operating costs and monthly expenses were too
great. Since we could not adjusted the operating costs (to meet monthly
production targets), I proposed to employ a used recycling machine instead of
buying a new one from China so that the monthly expenses to pay for the
installments of the machine could be reduced (because a used recycling machine
is cheaper). The result was positive because we could reduce expenses and
achieve a profit by 40% greater than the previous one. When we presented the
business plan, our lecturer was quite satisfied and recommended us to submit it to
the community service project of Gadjah Mada University.
In the last year (grade 3, semester 2) in the Vocational High School, I took a
National Examination to meet one of the graduation requirements. There were two
types of examinations, namely the written examination and the practical
examination that included the materials given during the three years I studied in
the vocational high school. In addition to the National Examination, there was
another examination, which was the school examination that also consisted of the
written examination and the practical examination. These tests were quite
burdensome because they made my time to study and prepare for the test several
weeks shorter than that of senior high school students. To deal with it, I made a

catalog that contained the learning materials that I had studied for the last three
years and using this catalog, I arranged a test blueprint based on the test materials
that I often found to be tested in the previous years. It brought great results
because it made me have more focus on studying the materials. Finally, I managed
to pass the national examination with an average of 8.32 out of 10.
As a final-year student, I was required to have an internship. At that time, I
wanted to be an intern at a company where I could develop my skills in designing
(my field of interest). After selecting several possible companies, the three friends
of mine and I finally chose to have n internship at PT.INKA (Persero), a company
engaged in train manufacturing in Indonesia. After several times trying to contact
the company, the company was finally willing to accept us to have an internship
there. One of my friends and I were placed in the department of mechanical
designs while the other two friends of mine were placed in the production
department. I assumed that my internship activities were successful as these
activities had meet my expectations to work in the field of designs. During my
internship at the company, I had completed a total of 5 drawings for components
and 106 drawings for separate parts
The factors that supported me were my family, my friends, and me myself
as well. My wishes were to be successful and to prove that I could, I could be
independent, I could reach more than what I expected and what they thought.
Actually, there were only a few factors that inhibited me, but there was a time
when I felt extremely tired, i.e. at the beginning of the second semester during
which there were so many tasks, and as a consequence I sometimes stayed up late

to complete the tasks and slept only for 4 hours a day. That was quite hard but
finally I could get through it well and survived until my last semester now.
In the next few years, I wish to work in the field of oil and gas because there
are so many challenges that I may get in that field. I love field work and wish to
become a senior engineer or to have a higher career. But it is also possible for me
if my job requires me to work in the office. More than that, I have an adventurous
spirit and I want to find a lot of experience to have a career in that field.
