The Secuvox Smart is an ISDN terminal adapter provided with security

software and hardware. Version 1.04

Installation
Install the Secuvox Smart using the supplied self-adhesive mounting studs.

5.
6.

Connect the 12VDC, ground and earth connection.

Connect the network side of the ISDN-2 line to J3-ISDN IN.
Set dipswitch S1-2 to ON to activate the LED s.
Set dipswitch S1-4 according the connected ISDN type.
Set dipswitch S1-1 to On and wait for the green LED to light up.
Default the Secuvox Smart is not programmed with an MSN number
and will respond to all incoming calls with a delay of 20 seconds. In
PtP configuration the Secuvox Smart will not respond if no MSN
number is programmed. To program an MSN number, the Secuvox
Smart must receive a call to the desired MSN number during program
mode. The Secuvox Smart will answer the call with a tree-tone signal.
If an MSN number is programmed the Secuvox Smart will respond to
that number without delay, in both PtMP and PtP configuration. At PtP
configurations with multiple NT-1 it is not possible to use the incoming
call.
7. Set dipswitch S1-1 to OFF again.
8. Set dipswitch S1-3 to ON if ISDN devices connected to J4 are
interfering with the Secuvox Smart.
9. Connect the TIP and RING (TR) of the analogue dialer to J6 or J5 T/R.
10. Connect other ISDN devices, if any, to J4-ISDN OUT
11. Activate the analogue dialer and check if the alarm is transmitted
correctly.
12. Set dipswitch S1-2 to OFF again to reduce power consumption.

Secuvox Smart V1.04

Dial procedure
Point to Multipoint
The Secuvox Smart will monitor the on hook and off hook status of the internal AB interface. If the AB
interface goes off hook the Secuvox Smart sends the 450 Hz dial tone to the AB interface. The dial
information send over the AB interface by the alarmpanel will be stored into the Secuvox Smart, when
no new dial information is received after an interdigit time of 1000 mS, the Secuvox Smart will regard
this as the complete number. The Secuvox Smart now starts to setup the connection over the ISDN
network. If the ISDN network is not responding correctly to the setup it will redial automatically. If the
calling party is busy the Secuvox Smart transmits a busy signal to the AB interface. If both B-channels
are occupied during the setup, the security software will clear one B-channel. If interference is detected
on the S0-BUS the Secuvox Smart activates the snatch relay. All other ISDN devices are switched off by
this relay. A next call within 90 seconds will also result in an activation of the snatch relay. After each call
the snatch relay will be deactivated.

Point to Point
If the Secuvox Smart is connected to a Point to Point ISDN line, the snatch relay will be activated at
each call to avoid collisions on the S0-BUS.

Receiving calls
Point to Multipoint
In default configuration the Secuvox Smart is not programmed with an MSN number. The Secuvox
Smart will respond to all incoming calls with a delay of 20 seconds. If an MSN number is programmed
the Secuvox Smart will respond, without delay, to the programmed MSN number. The Secuvox Smart
will reject all other incoming calls.

Point to Point
If used in a Point to Point configuration, the Secuvox Smart will not respond to incoming calls when no
MSN number is programmed. If the MSN number is programmed the Secuvox Smart will respond
directly to incoming calls for that MSN number. The Secuvox Smart automatically detects if other
devices are installed on the S0-BUS. If not the snatch relay will not be activated. Otherwise the snatch
relay will be activated before the Secuvox Smart communicates to the network to avoid collisions. It is
not possible to receive calls in a multiple NT-1 PtP configuration.

Line monitoring
Line monitoring is implemented on DC control and layer one monitoring. If the DC line voltage is not
present, the DC voltage to the TR interface is not present also. The layer one monitoring will activate
layer one of the ISDN network every 180 seconds. In a Point to Point configuration continues activation
status of the ISDN is present that is monitored by the Secuvox Smart. If a malfunction is detected in the
layer one monitoring the Secuvox Smart will activate the snatch relay to detect if the problem is caused
by the ISDN devices or the infrastructure connected to J-4. If so, the DC line voltage of the TR interface
will stay intact and the Secuvox Smart will test the J-4 output every 60 seconds. During this condition
the Secuvox Smart still monitors the TR interface and will respond to any dial information send by the
analogue alarmpanel. If the problem is caused by the incoming ISDN line the line voltage will be cut off,
allowing the analogue alarmpanel to generate an alarm.
