Read the passage. G

The story of Thanksgiving started in 1760. Some English people

sailed to America in a small ship. They were Pilgrims and the ship
was the Mayflower. They wanted to start a new life in America.
The Pilgrims arrived in America. It rained and sno\\ ed, but the
Pilgrims loved America. The Native Americans helped and showed
them how to plant their corn, wheat and barley. \\'hen spring
arrived, there was lots of good food. In autumn there "as a big
party to give thanks to God for good food with the ~ative
Americans and the Pilgrims. They cooked turkey as one of the
main dishes.
Now Thanksgiving is an American national holiday. People in the
United States celebrate Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday in
November. They eat turkey and a special pie made from
pumpkin, to remember the Pilgrims.

Rearrange the pictures according to the reading.

Easter
0 Read the passage and answer the questions. G S ~
People decorate eggs to celebrate
Easter in early spring. The egg is a symbol
of the new life. A night before Easter, the
parents put the Easter eggs in the baskets
and hide them in the house. In the Easter
morning, the children look for the eggs.
In the past people painted Easter eggs.
Now some people use chocolate eggs.
Some use plastic eggs and put some jelly
beans in them.
Many children think that an Easter
Bunny brings their Easter eggs. The
rabbit put the eggs in the basket and
hide them in the house. When the children
wake up in the morning, they look for
the eggs.
