Environmental Issues
What are we going to experience in the coming years? What is
our future? These are some questions that I ask myself because I am
a concerned citizen worried for the future of all of us. We have to
worry about the lives of our children and the next generations. We
have to leave them a good place to live in. But to make it possible, we
need to stop contaminating and do something to help the planet
recover or at least stop it.
We are starting to have more and more natural disasters; some
of them have caused deaths, danger and destruction. For example
tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are becoming more
common and they harm us a lot. We are all the victims of these
disasters but also we are not conscious that we are the producers of
them too. Realize that these events are harming the planet more than
we are already harming it. There are currently around 700 million cars
today producing 900 million tons of carbon dioxide each year. Just
think that in the next years these numbers will increase and the
output of contamination will also be bigger. You can walk, ride your
bicycle or at least use an hybrid car, all these options can reduce the
contamination in the planet.

The future is in our hands; we need to take care of our planet

for the future generations, the past generations didnt have all these
problems, lets make something to change it. Future generations dont
have to live badly because of our ignorance and actions. We are
already suffering rough conditions and if we dont act in time, the
future will be worse. For example, we already consumed the water in
Torreon, the farmers need to wait until it rains or go to other places to
collect water. These problems will be worse in the next years.
We are harming the planet, the animals and our sources for
surviving. Billions of plastic bags are made each year. One hundred
billion are thrown away according to Worldwatch Institute, with less
than 1 percent finding their way into a recycle bin. The result of this is
around 1 billion birds and mammals dying each year by the ingestion
of plastic. Also we cut a lot of trees, thats why we are finishing the
water capacity, creating more droughts and even killing animals.
According to the World Resources Institute, 100 species die each day
due to tropical deforestation. 31 countries around the world today
face chronic freshwater shortages and in another 20 years, that
number will increase to over 50 countries.
Considering all these points, we are doing something wrong and
we need to stop it. We need to act quickly because if not, the future
will be horrible, more natural disasters, global warming and more will
affect us in a very rough way. Im asking you to act and do something
for the planet. Simple things as walking instead of using your car,
recycling or using less energy can make a big change in the world.

Just remember that we are the future and the responsible for giving
our children a good place to live.
