TOPIC: GRATITUDE (Luke7:37-49)
On the cross, He died for our sins. We are all therefore indebted to Je-
sus. Like the parable suggests; there were two debtors; one owed more
than the other to the creditor. The creditor forgave both of their
debts. It’s obvious that the one with the bigger debt was more grateful
to the debtor.
The woman and Simon are like the two debtors who owe Jesus, the
creditor. The woman realised how sinful her ways were and how indebted
she was to Jesus for an act of true love that he was about to do (dying
on the cross for her sins). Simon on the other hand never saw this and
thus never even offered Jesus water for His feet.
Many times we are like Simon in our every day lives. We do not show
gratitude to our friends, family and above all God for what each and
every one of them does in our every day lives and thus makes our lives
worth living.
Hope You have Your life jacket on; let’s ride the gentle storm of grati-
tude together.
