Streetlighting: Critical but Expensive City Assets

300 MILLION STREETLIGHTS IN THE WORLD

60 million in Asia/Oceania
90 million in Europe
63 million in North America

EACH STREETLIGHT EMIT 300 KGs OF CO

330 Kg of CO per year per streetlight
World-wide average

EACH STREETLIGHT COST 120 USD PER YEAR

Of which 65 USD electricity and 55 USD maintenance
Night patrols (visual identification of lamp failures)
Lamp replacement every 3 years for HPS
Trucks and service cars
Maintenance teams
Incoming calls
Installation, maintenance, and retrofit

Who is LonMark ?
Mission:
The mission of LonMark International is to allow an easy integration of

systems based on LONWORKS networks using products from different

manufacturers and from different applications.

Definition of Interoperability:
The condition has been met as long as several products of the network
from the same or from different manufacturers can be integrated into
the same system without the need of using a third party gateway or a
development tool

Traditionnal closed system

Only one supplier

High cost for jobs and upgrades of the

Limited extension possibilities

The number of specialists will be smaller

Interoperability with other suppliers will be
