Nancy Darrah, owner of Belle Mode, believes quality
customer service is a big part of what makes the
boutique successful.
If we dont think something fits right, we will be very
honest, Darrah said. Its worth it to me to make the
customer happy and not just to make a sale.
Belle Mode Boutique has been providing the
Folsom community with fashion forward clothes and

artender Brad Walker claimed the title

of Folsoms best bartender yet again
in this years Best of the Best competition.
Walker, who works at FLB Sports Bar in
Folsom, won the title last year and has high
hopes of continuing his winning streak.
Im going for 10 years in a row,
Walker said.
Going all out with his campaign this
year, Walker used Vote for Brad posters
on social media and created more than
100 Vote for Brad T-shirts to bring
in the votes. As an extra measure, the
custom shirts even featured QR codes
that would take voters right to the Best
of the Best ballot.
Walker said apart from the campaign,
he believes the service he offers earned

him the title of best bartender.

Its about connecting with people,
doing more than just someone who
hands you a drink, he said.
Walker, who started as a restaurant
host, said his overblown personality
is great for bartending, and he has the
know-how to back it up.
Over his last five years of bartending,
Walker said he has developed a pretty
devout following of regulars. Half of
that time has been at FLB.
Im very thankful for my employers and
very happy get to work at FLB, Walker said.
Its the spot to be, and they gave me the
opportunity to reach more people.

in this years Best of the Best competition.
While the facility has won best storage
facility twice in the past, Resident Manager
Christine Glynn said this year is special because
the tenants made it happen.
We have the most wonderful tenants in all of
Folsom, said Glynn, who has been at the facility
for 14 years and knows almost every tenant by
name. Everyone seems to be like a family.
While many tenants may know Folsom Self
Storage for its bowls of really good candy, Glynn
said thats hardly all they have to offer.
Theyre here for a reason, Glynn said of her
tenants. Its a beautiful facility thats very secure
and clean. We have never had a break-in and were
very, very proud of that.

Friends won best consignment option for children
in the Telegraphs annual Best of the Best voting.
According to Gena Pascual with Just Between
Friends, the store has been serving Folsom since
2010.
We help families in the area by selling their
gently used, unwanted items and unsold items that
are marked donate are donated to local charities.
Our average consignor check last sale was $275. Its
a win, win for everyone, Pascual said.
Pascual said there has been a big craze to see
items online, however the time commitment and
safety does not always make that a popular options
for some. Pascual said Just Between Friends offers
a one-stop-shop for the selling of items in a safe
environment rather than having strangers in and out
of your home.

We really appreciate how well-received weve been
and the strong showing of support, said Trenton Koller,
general manager. We take pride in the things we do,
take time for attention to detail and make everything as
fresh as possible in house.
Sutter Street Steakhouse has been serving steaks,
starters, cocktails and more in Historic Folsom for the
last five years.
Steaks are the main reason why were here, Koller
said. Were well known for our filet mignon, rib-eye
and happy hour sliders.
The steakhouses drink specialsincluding the
Bombay-tini and Kettle-tiniare also a draw.

BEST BOOKSTORE

won best bookstore in Folsom in this years Best of the
Best contest.
Colton Books has been open since 1995, and new owners
Ron and Ryan Peterson took over one year ago, opening a
new chapter for the store.
We try to offer a good product, even if its used, Ron
Peterson said. We go through every book to make sure its
in good condition and sell them at a reasonable price, so
customers get their moneys worth.
Readers can also bring in used books get store credit.
We like to say we recycle and repurpose our books
because we find great homes for them, said Kerrie Peterson,
admin at Colton Books.
The store carries 95 percent used books, including
everything from romance, fiction and literature to history,
biography and technical books.
We want to be a resource for the community, Kerrie said.
Its the whole experience itself. People tell us that.
The Petersons take pride in the goals theyve accomplished
since taking over the store, including the variety of genres

wheelchair-accessible aisles and that make for an
overall positive environment for shoppers.
Colton Books also helps out the community.
If we have too many copies, we donate
hundreds to the library, SPCA and other
nonprofits throughout community, Kerrie said.
While a recent move left some shoppers
believing the Colton Books had closed its doors,
Kerrie assured them that is not the case.
We are back and better than ever, she said.
We have so much more inventory and more to
offer. We are thriving.
