Dear Parents,

I would like to start with a BIG thank you to the PTA organizers who ran last weekend’s Family
Fun Day. I know my own ES and MS sons had a great time, especially when dad paid to put them
in “jail” and then later when they had a chance to get back at dad at the dunking booth! This is
an important annual fundraiser for the PTA and the funds raised are ploughed back into
worthwhile projects within the school community. Thank you to everyone who participated and
made the event such a success.

It has been another busy week in the High School. We had a fantastic parent turn out at the
monthly parent coffee meeting on Tuesday. We covered a number of announcements but focused
on IT improvements at ISM and the upcoming Course Registration process for the next school
year. All high school students have now received information via assemblies, class meetings,
discussions with counselors and the IB coordinator in terms of what courses will be on offer in the
high school next year and the likely pathways that students can take to meet ISM graduation and
IB Diploma requirements. Please take time to discuss these important course selection decisions
with your child. The HS Course Offerings can be found on the ism.org website.

At the parent coffee I also mentioned how pleased and excited I am with recruiting new teachers
for the next school year. I am excited with the prospect of working with such a talented bunch of
international educators. We have eight new teachers in the following areas:

Counseling
Steve Ayling – Currently ISM Middle School
Doug McQueen – Currently Nagoya International School
English
Peter Curry – Currently ISM Middle School
Justin Cook – Currently Nagoya International School
Andrea Thompson - Currently Taipei American School
Maths
Patrick Hillman – Currently British International School Jakarta
Music – MS/HS Strings
Guillaume Odendaal – Currently Karachi American School
Social Studies – Geography
Mike Relf – Currently Thames Valley University – Sixth Form Academy, Reading

Kind regards,

William R. S Brown Michael Dickinson
