1. Because of our geographical location and the technology has cut down the
time taken to transfer information. And it makes Australia easier to
communicate with the rest of the world.

2. Information technology refers to the electronic hardware and software


used to process the information.

3. Because of our Local Area Network (LAN’s) allow the computers to


communicate information and share resources.

4. Organisations have used the information technology to:

• Save time

• Reduce effort

• Increase output

• Develop new products

• Ultimately save money

5. Banking has changed drastically with the use of plastic cards, automatic
teller machines (ATMs), electronic funds transfer at point-of-sale (EFTPOS),
internet banking and bill paying.

6. Pilots are used flight control system to guide aircraft to their destination.
Sensors are used to monitor the aircraft’s position, speed and other
information needed by the pilot.

7. The introduction of information technology has forced many people to


learned new skills. Individuals need access to information and for they
may need to be proficient in using information technologies. If they do not
have access to increase, or unable to use the technology, they will be
disadvantaged.

8. The ethical issues that have been raised by the introduction of information
technology:

• The privacy of the individual

• The security and accuracy of data and information


• The changing nature of work

• The appropriate use of information

• Copyright laws

• Health and safety concerns

1. Information system performs a set of information processes requiring
participants, data/information and information technology.

2. The purpose of the information system is to solve a problem and provide


benefits to an organisation or individual.

4. There are five functions of hardware:

• Input

• Output

• Processing

• Storage

• Control

5. It takes the data from an output device, changes it to produce information


and sends it to an output device to be displayed to the user.

7. There are four different types of computers:

• Personal computer (PC) is a single-user computer that generally


sits on a desktop

• Midrange computer (minicomputer) is a central computer that


performs the processing number of users working at terminal
• Mainframe computer is a central computer for a large number of
users

• Supercomputer is the fastest, most powerful and expensive type


of computer and it’s for running applications that requiring high-
volume and high speed calculations.

8. System software manages and controls the hardware so the application


can perform the required task, and Application software is a computer
program used for a specific task
