The METRO Cash & Carry concept was unique when the first store opened its doors
to the German businesses in 1964: instead of placing orders for the delivery of
goods through multiple vendors, customers selected their own purchases directly at
a store in Mlheim an der Ruhr, Germany, and took those goods with them.
Today, the company has grown to become the leading international player in selfservice wholesale, operating with around 700 outlets in 30 countries. Much copied
around the world, METRO Cash & Carry is once again setting itself apart from its

Store Formats
In the METRO Cash & Carry wholesale stores, the focus on the special needs and
demands of professional customers, mainly from HORECA businesses, reflects in the
structure and the three different wholesale store formats: the Classic format (10,000
16,000m2), the Junior format (7,000 9,000m2) and the Eco format (2,500
4,000m2).
METRO Cash & Carry is always located at major traffic junctions with excellent
transport access and sufficient parking space. The opening times are adjusted to
the business hours of the customers.

Up to 50,000 different food and non-food products catering to the specific needs of

Meat
All types of Halal meat (Fresh, Frozen, Processed) is available in a temperaturecontrolled environment. Availability of premium quality meat is ensured through
reliable supply chain procedures and strict quality assurance measures, right from
live stock procurement to end-product at our center. A variety of meats is available
in different cuttings of Mutton, Beef and Chicken to cater the needs of our

Edible Groceries, Canned Goods and Bakery
Edible Groceries include all such items that are consumed in every part of Pakistan
on a daily basis, such as Sugar, Vegetable Oil, Rice, Spices, Flour, Lentils and many
other products. A wide range of grocery items are available under one roof at
METRO centres with a mix of local and imported brands. The Canned Goods

percent of the products from local suppliers and distributors. The strong

Farmer Development

(DEG) on a program to support farmers and fishermen. Participants will learn how to

implemented a training seminar for 50 fish farmers in Punjab. In Pakistan, the
