ClockworkMod is a software developer which offers various Android apps. It is primarily known for its custom
recovery, commonly referred to as CWM (ClockworkMod) Recovery, used in many custom made ROMs. Once
flashed, this recovery replaces the stock recovery of your Android device. Using this recovery you can then do various
system level operations on your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4g , such as create and restore images backups, flash a portion
of or an entire custom ROM, and use other developer tools. ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) is a replacement
recovery option for Android devices, made by Koushik "Koush" Dutta. It is based on the Android 2.1 (Eclair) recovery
image. Features include Nandroid backup, adb shell, advanced update.zip options (ignore asserts and signature
checks), and file browser for choosing update.zips
The ROM Manager app may be used for installing CWM, overwriting the device's stock recovery. As with the stock
recovery, CWM can apply software changes to the device. Unlike the stock recovery, CWM is able to entirely replace
the device's primary Android operating system ("flashing a new ROM"), including with aftermarket replacements such
as CyanogenMod. Once installed, CWM it is accessed by turning your device off, then triggering the bootloader
prompt by holding down some device-dependent button combination as it is turned on. CWM is also known as
clockwork and CW recovery. They also provide the following apps:
ROM Manger: An app to backup/restore NANDroid backups
Tether: An app used for tethering regardless of carrier based tethering plans
Helium: An app used to backup user and system data on your device without the need for root
DeskSMS: An app to send and receive text messages from your email, browser, or instant messenger client
TWRP, short for Team Win Recovery Project, is an open-source recovery image for Android-based devices. It
provides a touch-enabled interface which allows users to install third-party firmwares and backup the current system,
which are often unsupported by stock recoveries. Therefore, it's often installed when rooting Android devices.

- Responsive, natural motion, realistic lighting and shadows, and familiar visual elements make it easier to navigate
your device.
- More intelligent ranking of notifications based on who theyre from and the type of communication. See all your
notifications in one place by tapping the top of the screen.
- New devices come with encryption automatically turned on to help protect data on lost or stolen devices.
- SELinux enforcing for all applications means even better protection against vulnerabilities and malware.

Here are some more aspects that users should know before trying out the custom ROM :
- Users need to have proper back-up for their personal data on the device.
- The handset should have at least 80 percent of battery power.
- The users also need to ensure that USB Debugging is enabled on the device.
- During the installation, if the device gets stuck on booting, users can perform wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik
before rebooting the device.
Tutorial
1. Download Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM for Xiaomi Redmi Note 4g from link below :
The ROM File size is big, so I split the file into 3 parts :

To combine 3 parts files : put all the parts into the same folder, then double click on ROM-Part1.rar, all the other parts
will unpack and combine automatically. If any problem with the ROM, maybe because the ROM have corrupted during
the download process, you can try to re-download the ROM.
2. Install the ROM Manager on your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4g . Get it from Google Play Store, then install the clockwork
mod recovery. You also can use ROM Installer application from JRummy Apps Inc.(Get it from Google Play Store).
3. Connect your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4g to your PC employing the USB information cable. Copy the ROM.zip file you
downloaded to the SD memory card.
4. Restart your device in the recovery mode using ROM Manager. As soon as in Recovery Mode, go to ROM
Manager and select backup/restore to back-up your information.
5. From the Recovery Menu do a total data erase (including Delvik Cache). When completed, go back to Recovery
Principal Menu and choose Flash ROM from SD Card. Navigate the location you copied the ROM.zip file and follow
the directions for installing Android 5.0 Lollipop on your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4g . As soon as the installation is over,
just reboot your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4g device, and here you go, youve just upgraded it to the new Android 5.0
Lollipop.
