Introduction
In our life almost all of them seem to appear at one point or another engaged in role of
a manager and leader. Many people believe that the manager and leader are the same, but some
say it must go hand in hand not the same, they are inevitably linked, and combining in such a

way as to enhance or emphasize the qualities of each other. Although in certain situation these
roles may be conflict each other, but in the health care settings both managers and leaders are
working with people across a variety of situations. Throughout the history any successful
organization have a unique breed of leaders, these leaders are important for three reasons the
character of change in society, the de-emphasis on integrity in institutions, and the responsibility
for the effectiveness of organizations (, 1987, p. 2)(Fiedler and Garcia (1987).Especially in the
healthcare settings for those same reasons both leadership and management are very important
components.
According to Marquis and Huston (2009) (Marquis, B. L., & Huston, C. J. (2009, p.3).
The functions of management include planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and controlling.
In these each of functions, management must be provided most effective care at the same time
remaining fiscally responsible. Leadership is a more rewarding and challenging employment to
describe. Therefore leaders have the ability to example to others, such as motivating, mentoring
and inspiring, but they dont have the official authority.
Nursing shortage and nurses Turnover
Nursing shortage and turnover is a serious issue that has greatly affected the
performance and profitability of healthcare organizations. Nursing shortage is negatively impacts
in many ways, such as poor patient outcomes, Staff burnout increase significantly, Increased
accident and absenteeism rates, loss of patients, increased nurse and staff turnover. Many
healthcare organization are forced to work with high nurse to patient ratios environment this
caused high level of nurse turnover. Further the margin for errors is so much larger when staffing
is low. Nurses caring for a larger number of patients are at increased risk for making errors
because they are rushed, also increase the excess workload demands placed on the organizations

remaining nurses. The main factors many nurses turnover their job they feeling overworked not
being capable of to manage workload, in a low staffing environments.
Compare and contrast leaders approach
Begin to deal with the shortage of nurses and turnover issue, there is no single or
immediate solution for exists across the board. But in several of ways many solutions have been
found positively control nursing turnover. Primary focus is to Enlarging the number of skilled
nursing applicants available in the labor field, also creating jobs more attractive to capable
nursing applicants. Healthcare institutions to support and sponsor educational reimbursement
program to help nurses to get higher degrees. Moreover scheduling job flexibility attractive more
nurses for part-time jobs.
The prime factor is that the manager make sure that the job gets done, so they must
responsible for effectively implementing new policies and procedure, and resolving problems.
One of the key area nursing turnover is the behavior of the nursing manager and leaders, in many
cases they are not efficiently manage in their circumstances. Leaders and managers must
understand their role in order to manage within the organization. Providing the relevant work
information and their work goals also very importance to engage in dialogs with nurses will
improve performance and get the feeling of autonomy and organize over their works. Moreover
creating a very supportive work atmosphere and teamworks, it will help Nurse Burnout, manage
stress, and they can rely on team work and maintain high level of effective patient care. A
manager inspires others around them to be the best they can be, that what they do on a daily basis
matters, and they are an important part of the team. Example, the manager can be involved in the
daily activities with staff like helping out when short or just crazy busy, helping to relieve for
lunch breaks, or being a visible resource when situations arise on a unit. To me this shows that

the manager cares for the staff, the unit, the patients, and has firsthand knowledge of the good
and the bad.
My Personal and Professional Leadership Style

My Personal and professional leadership styles I prefer Transformational Leadership

style. With my leadership traits, this styles determine to motivate my followers to perform their
best, also understanding, influencing, constructing relationships and giving sense of directions.
Further transformational leadership identifying the needed change, creating a vision to guide the
change through inspiration, and implementing the change in tandem with dedicated members of
the group. Researchers have found that this style of leadership can progressive influence on their
group also they serve as a role model for followers, the reason is that the followers respect and
trust the leader. As a nurse and students the author wants to lead by good examples and hoped,
inspired to be transformational leader. Leaders can build trust by leading with honesty and good
integrity, standing firm to their promises towards the followers. Sincere and energetic leaders
who have good nursing, communication, and interpersonal skills can better lead their team even
in risky situations. Some of the qualities that are specific to a nurse leader include integrity,
motivating spirit, self-confidence, and bravery.
Conclusion
Although management and leadership both are very important roles in every organization
success. Leaders focused on human relationship experience creating trust, communication,
inspiration, action and servanthood. Leaders exemplifies commitment by motivating team work
by bringing people together to accomplish goals and bring vision to completion. Leaders will
focus on health and safety for the best interest of the workers while managers initiate policies for

the best interest of protecting the organization assets and accreditation in a cost effective manner
with little or no quality benefiting the workers but still providing safety recommended by
governing bodies for workers. Both leaders and managers need to envision the future and lead
the way towards a productive and efficient unit with satisfied personnel (Huber, 2014) (, 2014,
p. 5).
