Director Aanand L Rai has returned with the sequel to his film Tanu Weds
Manu with Tanu Weds Manu Returns after a long gap of four years. While Tanu
Weds Manu entertained you he makes sure that he does not disappoint his fans
with the second installment. Writer Himanshu Sharma has come up with a
great script and will keep you entertained enough.
Story:
The film starts with the marriage sequence of Tanu (Kangana Ranaut) and
Manu (R.Madhavan) with the old Hindi film song playing in the background
after which they leave for London. Four years later Tanu and Manu settled in
London leading a monotonous life. They cant stand each other. Tanu who looks
for excitement is bored of the regular married life. They meet marriage
counselors and end up fighting. Finally Manu is sent to a mental asylum and
Tanu returns to Kanpur. Tanu tries to connect with her past in Kanpur and is
back to her wild Bohemian ways. She takes the help of a tenant in her fathers
house Chintu (Zeeshan Ayub), who is also a budding lawyer. With his help she
finds her old love Raj Awasthi (Jimmy Shergill) only to know that he is engaged
to another girl.
She calls his old friend Pappi (Deepak Dobriyal) and asks him to leave for

London and get Manu out of the asylum. Pappi bails out Madhavan from the
Asylum and they decided to come back to Delhi home. Manu finds Datto alias
Kusum (Kangana Ranaut) a look alike of Tanu but more feisty smart
independent athlete of a girl in Delhi who captures his attention. Manu starts
following her and ultimately love blossoms between them and he proposes to
her. But Datto is skeptical as she is engaged to another man. Manu comes to
know that her marriage has been fixed with Raj Awasthi. Raj Awasthi comes to
know that Manu is out to steal this girl from his life too. Tanu alongwith Raj
Awasthi comes to Delhi in search of her husband Manu and there is a lot of
confusion and finally reaches the marriage ceremony of Manu and Datto. Will
Manu and Datto get married or will Tanu win her love back is what forms the
crux of the story.
What works?
A fantastic script and great one liners that will keep the audience in splits.
Kangana is amazing in a double role. She slips from Tanu to Datto easily. We
are sure she will walk away with another National Award this time. Manu as a
morose and shy doctor wins your heart. Deepak Dobriyal as the chatterbox
friend of Manu keeps you in splits with his one liners. Swara Bhaskar as
Tanus friend is entertaining. Jimmy Shergill is excellent but has very few
dialogues. Chintu and Rajesh Sharma (as Dattos brother) is good. K.K, Raina
and Deepti Mishra as Madhavans parents makes his presence felt. Rajendra
Gupt and Navni Parihar are good in their roles.
What Doesnt Work?
The movie is a little dragging in the second half. Music by Krsna Solo &
Tanishk-Vayu are ok. The film is cramped with too many songs. Except for the
songs Banno, Ho Gaya Hai Pyaar and Ghani Bawri the rest of the songs were
not needed in the film.

Verdict:
A clean and wholesome entertainment which you can enjoy with your entire
family over the weekend. Do not miss this one.
