The sound of rain, the sound of a waterfall, the sound of wind blowing through a forest

during autumn as ordinary as this sounds may resonate into our ears, they represent primitive
forms of music to which our ancenstors would once pay a lot of attention just like we, in modern
times, put a lot of thought in the meaning of songs, their lyrics or their instrumentals.
From the rudimentary tribal music that was created by humans in the beginning from
simple objects such as rocks and sticks of wood, to the diverse and complex songs that are
produced using man-made classical instruments such as the piano, the violin, the guitar and the
drums and technology based instruments such as the synthesizer or the mellotron, music became
greately diversified to the point where each genre of music was subdivided into numerous
categories which are continuously increasing. A significant part is representened by rock music.
Although nowadays it is not as popular as it once used to be, when rock bands would fill
up to refuse the stadiums and their songs would be played the most on radio channels, the genre
still shows a certain stability, still bringing in millions of devoted fans.
The reason why I have chosen British Rock music for my English certificate study paper is
that I am very passionate and fascinated by this genre of music and this research also helped me
understand it better and learn many new things about the artists that represented this type of
music. Throughout the decades, many misconceptions have been created about rock music
because of the artistss drug and alcohol addictions and their rebellious behavior and way of
thinking but rock culture represents much more than the weaknesses that any human can get
caught in, it has the courage to speak about very serious and controversial issues, taking for
example Pink Floyds Another brick in the wall which represents a protest song against rigid
schooling in general and boarding schools in the UK in particular.
Through this research paper I hope I was able to capture the history of British Rock music,
the large variety that it extended to and its relevant influence across the world, being able to
unite people of any age, race, gender or sexual orientation.

To conclude this paper, I would like to say that I greatly believe British Rock music can
never be forgotten, it can never fade away in the history of music as it has always had a strong
influence in the society, connecting millions of people from all around the globe to believe in the
power of unity that can change the world and to be passionate about what they believe in the
most.
