Yesterday, I went with my family for a picnic at the beach. We took lots of
food, because we like to eat! First of all, we packed some chocolate to eat in the car,
while we were on the way to the beach. We also took a little soup and a loaf of bread
for the first dish. We decided to take a chicken and salad sandwich, along with some
rice for the main course, and we took a melon big enough for everyone to get a slice.
Of course, we also took some tea and some coffee, and a liter of ice-cream. It
seemed like a huge quantity of food, but unfortunately we ate it all in the car! By the
time we got to the beach, there was nothing left.

Las Vegas, Nevada, an Exciting City

By: Mi-Sook Shim from Korea
My favorite city in the United States is Las Vegas. It's in Nevada, near
California. It's a very exciting city with great hotels, fine restaurants, and even
casinos.
First of all, it is exciting to see the many beautiful hotels, exciting shows, and
exhibits. You can spend a lot of time taking pictures in front of the great hotels, and
you can also see a lot of fantastic shows at some of them. If you want to see a really
good show, you should see the magic show of David Copperfield at the Mirage hotel.
You can also visit an exhibit about the life of Elvis Presley.
It is also fun to eat in restaurants there. Las Vegas has wonderful restaurants
where you can eat many different kinds of food. For example, you can eat delicious
French food at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant.
Of course, you can also gamble in this city. Many people love to go to Las Vegas
because they can gamble. There are lots of casinos in this city, and many people come
for that reason. But, you have to be careful. You might win big money, but most people
lose a lot of money!
This city never sleeps. There are always lots of people in the street, and there
is always something to see or do. You should visit Las Vegas. It is really an exciting
place.
