Step-by-Step: Using BlueStacks AppPlayer From Behind a Proxy

Introduction
BlueStack s AppPlayer is a software that brings Android applications to PCs and Mac. This tutorial will show you
how to install and use BlueStack s from behind an HTTP prox y.
A regular HTTP prox y is sufficient to provide access to the internet to BlueStack s itself and to the m ost of
Android apps. A sm all am ount of Android apps use network protocols other than HTTP and HTTPS. In order to
prox ify these latter apps, you will need a SO CKS or SSH prox y server instead.
The instructions below should apply to Mac O S X too as the setup procedure is very sim ilar.
This tutorial has been written for the version 0.8.0.2997 of BlueStack s. If you determ ine that this tutorial is
outdated, then please feel free to let us k now by sending an em ail via our contact form .

Installation

If you already have BlueStack s installed, sk ip to the nex t step. O therwise, download the BlueStack s installer,
and then run it. After installation com pletes, the installer will autom atically launch BlueStack s. If your access to
the internet is through the prox y server only, BlueStack s m ay stuck with the status "Downloading runtim e data"
or you m ay see a black screen. In any case, quit BlueStack s for the tim e being (right-click on the BlueStack s
task bar icon, and the click Q uit).

the other for HTTPS.

Configure ProxyCap to work with BlueStacks (Extended Configuration)

The above configuration is sufficient if your system uses a prox y server to connect to the internet. Besides HDNetwork .ex e, there are 2 other BlueStack s program files (HD-Agent.ex e and HD-Frontend.ex e) that require an
internet access, but, unlik e HD-Network .ex e, they respect the system prox y settings. So this ex tra
configuration step m ak es sense only if your system does NO T use a prox y server.
Select the first entry in the rule list.
Press the Properties

button on the toolbar.

Select the Program s tab.

Add HD-Agent.ex e and HD-Frontend.ex e to the Program list.

Press the O K button.
