RHP Sam Gaviglio (3-3, 5.23) vs. RHP Donn Roach (5-0, 1.97)

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Rainiers rallied for six

runs over the final three innings, but fell to the Cubs
13-7 for their second straight loss. Starting pitcher
Justin Germano allowed eight runs on 10 hits
through 5.2 innings of work with eight strikeouts.
Patrick Kivlehan went 1-for-4 with his seventh home
run of the season. Austin Jackson and Franklin
Gutierrez both recorded three hits. Lucas Luetge
held Iowa scoreless through 1.1 innings of work,
racking up four strikeouts. Edgar Olmos allowed
four runs on four hits in 0.1 innings during his first
career appearance with Tacoma.

Gaviglio is making his ninth start of the season, and
his first career appearance against Iowa. Gaviglio
has posted an ERA of 5.75 (13ERx20.1IP) in MAy
after recording an ERA of 4.71 (11ERx21.0IP) in
April. He has held opposing batters to a .119 (7x59)
average when getting ahead in the count. Righthanded batters have managed just a .152 (12x79)
batting average against Gaviglio. He has allowed
the majority of his runs in the first and third innings,
posting an ERA of 6.75 (6ERx8.0IP) in the first and
11.05 (9ERx7.1IP) in the third.

against the Rainiers. His one start against Tacoma
came on June 27, 2014 while he was with El Paso
- he went 6.0 innings and allowed two runs on two
hits with six walks and no strikeouts. Roach has
gone 3-0 with a 1.67 ERA (5ERx27.0IP) at home this
season. His 1.97 ERA (11ERx50.1IP) is the second
best in the PCL and his 1.07 WHIP is the fifth best
mark in the league.
SOME LIKE IT HOT: Ketel Martes current eight
game hitting streak is the longest active hitting
streak on the team - he is hitting .387 (12x31) with

RBI during the streak. His season batting average
of .351 (60x171) is the best mark in the PCL, the
third best mark in Triple-A, and ninth best mark
among all full-season minor league players. He
is the only player in the PCL to have played in 43
games this year, and his 14 stolen bases are third
in the league. Tacoma has not had a player lead the
PCL in average at the end of the year since Troy
Neel (.351) in 1992.

when allowing an opponent to score four or more
runs. Tacoma went 27-61 (.307) when allowing four
or more runs in 2014.

the Rainiers have only faced seven left-handed
pitchers, while opposing teams have called on 19
right-handed pitchers to face the Tacoma lineup.
The Rainiers are currently hitting .290 (141x487)
against lefties and just .256 (253x989) against
righties this year. Ketel Marte has hit .362 (21x58)
with eight RBI against lefties this year.
MAY 24: Tacoma has gone 8-3 on May 24 since
2005, including a 7-2 victory at Iowa in 2012 - no
Rainier that played in that game is currently on the
roster. On May 24, 2011, Mike Carp went 2-for-5
with two runs, one grand slam, and five RBI in a
15-4 defeat of Nashville.
GRAND THEFT BASEBALL: The Rainiers 58 stolen
bases are the top mark in the Pacific Coast League,
and are nine more than second place Las Vegas
and 16 more than third place Iowa. Tacoma base
runners have stolen bags with a 80.5% success
rate, and already have over 54% of last years 107
stolen bases. They are on pace for 194 stolen bases
this season.

bottom four in the league in fielding percentage Iowas mark of .970 is the worst in the league, while
Tacomas .975 is the fourth worst. The two teams have
