Eye Contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Get
medical attention immediately.

Skin Contact:

Flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and
shoes. Get medical attention if irritation persists after washing.

Inhalation:

If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Do not use mouthto-mouth method if victim has ingested or inhaled the substance; induce artificial respiration
with the aid of a pocket mask equipped with a one-way valve or other proper respiratory
medical device. Get medical attention.

Ingestion:

Do not induce vomiting. Give victim 2 glasses of water. Get medical attention immediately.
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Specific Hazards Arising from the Chemical

During a fire, irritating/toxic hydrogen chloride, and/or phosphene gases may be generated if material is dried and then heated to
decomposition.
Protective Equipment and Precautions for Firefighters
As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full
protective gear

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

IN CASE OF SPILL OR OTHER
RELEASE:

Absorb small spills with clay or dry material or neutralize with lime, limestone or
soda ash and collect in appropriate container for disposal. Neutralization with soda
ash can generate carbon dioxide so additional ventilation may be necessary. For
large spills, prevent entry into sewers and confined areas. Keep people away.
Isolate hazard area. Collect material and place in an appropriate container.
Neutralize residue with alkali such as soda ash, lime or limestone. Flush area with
water. Provide adequate ventilation to remove carbon dioxide resulting from
neutralization step, if present. Notify local authorities and the National Response
Center, if required.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling

Keep away from incompatible substances. Keep container tightly closed when not in use.

Storage

Store and ship in plastic or rubber-lined containers. Storage tanks should be vented to
scrubber or exterior atmosphere. Storage facilities should have secondary containment as
required by law or regulation. Some concentrations of this product will freeze or crystallize
at low temperatures. Insulate and heat-trace storage tanks, pumps, pipes and ancillary
equipment as necessary. Product should be used within one year.

Respiratory Protection

Wear chemical safety goggles. Wear a face shield if splashing hazard exists.
Wear impervious gloves and protective clothing, which may include boots, apron, or
protective suit as appropriate to prevent skin exposure.
A respiratory protection program that meets OSHA 1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2 or applicable
federal/provincial requirements must be followed whenever workplace conditions warrant
respirator use. NIOSH's "Respirator Decision Logic" may be useful in determining the
suitability of various types of respirators.
