Understanding what the examiners are looking for in the writing and
speaking part of the Aptis test
Use the candidates guide to answer the following questions

Decide if these statements are true or false
1. The writing test is 50 minutes long. T
2. Each writing task must be performed within the given time. Once the time is up, the computer will
automatically move to the next task. T
3. The first task requires you to fill in a form accurately therefore the most important things to focus on is
capitalization and spelling. T

Not doing a proper sound check. Not speaking clearly. Not answering the questions. Giving underlength answers not using the full amount of time to speak. Overusing words such as and and so.

In this task the candidate is asked to compare two pictures and then answer two questions related to
the topic.

8. How should you prepare for part three task?
it is a good idea to practice comparing two different things (e.g. two cities or two houses).
9. What will you be asked to do in part four of the speaking?
In the final task theres a prompt supported by a picture, though the picture is not central to answering
the task.
