Specifications
A proprietary asymmetric turbocharger is optimally matched to the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR)
system for significant improvements in real-world fuel economy, without sacrificing any of the
performance youve come to expect from the DD15. Weve also streamlined the design of the
turbocharger for reduced weight and even greater efficiency and reliability.

Demand Economy
The superior fuel economy derived from the DD15 makes it a smart business decision for any customer.
Benefit
Feature
Unprecedented efficiency achieved by a number of innovations that combine to
reduce weight and complexity while improving fuel economy and durability.
The redesigned DD15 is an evolution of our incredibly successful EPA 10 model
including a patented asymmetric turbocharger, an updated piston design, a variable
speed water pump and optimized oil pump.
Pulls strong down to 1,000 RPM so drivers spend more time in top gear.
2nd
Generation Amplified Common Rail System (ACRS) combined with updated DDEC
electronics optimize every single injection event.

OBD regulations require diagnostics that can detect discrete failures or degradation of
components and systems.
OBD systems must monitor all the inputs and outputs of the emissions control system to
verify proper functionality.
OBD systems must inform the operator that a failure has been confirmed via the
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
OBD systems must record failure codes and event data to aid repair technicians in their
diagnosis and repair of failures.
The number of systems being monitored has been increased and the variances allowed (from
the emissions standard) has been lowered.

To meet GHG14 requirements OEMs must reduce tailpipe CO2 emissions by improving fuel
efficiency.
Under the new GHG14 regulations, certified trucks and buses built model year 2014 through
2018 are projected to reduce oil consumption by 530 million barrels and greenhouse gas
emissions by 270 million metric tons.
EPAs greenhouse gas standards must be met beginning model year 2014, however Daimler has
decided to lead the industry by certifying its 2013 vehicle fleet one year early. NHTSAs fuel
efficiency standards must be met beginning model year 2017 for diesel vehicles.
