Limitations on course retaking, if any: The grade for those who repeat this course can
generally be one unit lower (e.g., B+B0). (Also it may depend on lecturer/class)
Summary of Lecture:
-
Physics is the fundamental science, governing the entire universe only with few basic
principles. In this class, we will learn about those basic principles using calculus based
techniques, to help students build the analytical and quantitative skills and confidence
needed to apply physics in problem-solving for science and engineering. During the
course, you will see the relevance and excitement of the physics you're studying with
wide ranging and contemporary applications in science, technology, and everyday life.
In 1st semester, topics covered will be Mechanics, Oscillations and waves, Fluids,
Thermodynamics. (In 2nd semester, general physics II, you will learn about
Electromagnetism, Optics, and Modern physics including relativity, quantum
mechanics, and current issues in physics)
Course will have (i) 3 hour lecture held in either English or Korean,
(ii) 1 hour exercise every week, and (iii) ~ 30 min quiz every two weeks.
