other three-fourths of the world is all about! Weve certified 1000s of new divers through our SCUBA
programs held at various locations throughout the years. From talking with candidates in the area there
seems to be sufficient demand to warrant another SCUBA program at this time. Our PADI SCUBA program

consists of 3 parts. The first and second parts of the program are the classroom and pool training, which
would be conducted at the Gouveneur School pool. Additional fees would include the Openwater checkout
dives this fee would be $ (TBA) (see description below).

Class and Pool Fee $349.00 non student, $315.00 student and military includes:
The Student Training Kit, which contains the PADI Open Water Diver Manual with dive planner, logbook,
student folder, homework sheets, 6 months free trial subscription to Dive Training Magazine, use of SCUBA
equipment for all pool sessions, air tank refills, insurance, administrative cost and assistance fees
Full SCUBA Certification
Upon successful completion of all classroom & pool sessions, four Openwater checkout dives are required for
a PADI Openwater SCUBA certification. Students may sign-up with us during the months of May
November or take a dive trip and travel with us to warmer water during the colder months to complete your
certification. Students not completing their dive training with us will need a referral package.
Four Openwater Training Evaluation Dives
These dives are conducted over a two-day period usually scheduled on the weekend. On each dive the students
will demonstrate the skills learned in the confined Openwater sessions followed by an exciting tour. Two
dives will be conducted per day at a minimum depth of 20 feet for a minimum time of 20 minutes per dive.
Maximum depth will not exceed 40 feet. Bottom time will depend on the students air consumption.
Openwater Fees $179.00 includes:
SCUBA equipment rentals for all checkout dives, certification card (PIC) and photo. The fins, mask, snorkel,
boots and gloves are not included. Checkout dive fee is due at the time of the dives.
Referral Package Fees $ (TBA):
Student academic and confined water completion form, medical form, student photograph, and certification
card processing form (PIC). We can also assist you in setting up your open water training dives.

Class Size
At least 6 students would be needed to run a class. An ideal class size would be 10 to 12 students.
Private lessons available for less than 6 students (inquire).
Course Format
The PADI Open Water Course consists of home study, classroom academics, pool skill development, and four
Openwater training evaluation dives.
Home Study
PADI has a learning kit. The PADI Open Water Manual & DVD. Using the Manual, students are required to
view the PADI Open Water DVD, read the corresponding module, and complete the knowledge review
questions at the end of the module before each class session. Another option is to complete all the classroom
work through the internet.
Classroom Academics
The academic session will consist of a review of the material, four quizzes, and a final exam. All quizzes and
exams are multiple choices unless the internet classroom option was used.
Pool Skill Development
During the pool sessions, the instructor will brief the students on the diving skills; demonstrate the skills
underwater, the students will perform the skills, and the instructor will evaluate their performance. Students
will have ample time for skill development.
Things to Bring
PADI student kit, knowledge reviews, bathing suit, towel, notebook, pen, mask, snorkel, fins, hood boots

Prerequisites and Physical Requirements
Minimum 12 years old. Those students between the ages of 12 and 14 would need to have a parent or
guardian present through out the course. These people could participate as students or merely observe at no
cost. Students 15 years old will be able to participate with parent or guardian consent. Must be comfortable

in the water. Be able to swim 200 yards of the pool, any stroke, any style, and any speed and remain afloat
for 10 minutes. Relaxation and comfort in the water is more essential than refined swim strokes. Each
student will be asked to complete a medical questionnaire and upon evaluation may be required to have a
physicians approval.
Additionally each participant will be required to complete a statement of
understanding, waiver and release.
Instructor(s)
Khris Hunt, an instructor in SCUBA has been involved with diving all of his life. Khriss father Donald
MOE Hunt a diving pioneer started his diving career in 1953. As soon as word got out about his diving
adventures he was flooded with requests to teach SCUBA diving. In 1963 MOE open his first SCUBA
shop Hunts Dive Shop.
