Low Energy
Low Carbon Buildings
Introduction
The Challenge
Energy efficiency is key to delivering so many of Europes
economic, energy, environmental and social policy objectives.
Buildings have the biggest role to play as they consume more
energy than any other sector. They account for 40% of Europes
energy use and a third of its greenhouse gas emissions.
The goal for the European Union and its member states is to
halve their carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. If we want to
transform our society into one that is energy efficient and
decarbonised, energy-intelligent buildings will play a vital role.
By using energy saving materials and technologies, most
buildings could reduce their energy consumption and carbon
dioxide emissions to a fraction of current levels, and therefore
reduce the impact buildings have on our environment
throughout their lifecycle.

Product Details
Kingspan
comprises a micro-porous core,
which is evacuated, encased, and sealed in a thin, gas-tight
envelope, giving outstanding thermal conductivity and the
thinnest possible solution to insulation problems. With a
declared (aged) thermal conductivity () of 0.007 W/m.K, it
provides an insulating performance that is up to five times
better than other commonly available insulation materials.

Applications
Kingspan
is available in systems for differing
thermal insulation applications, both new-build and
refurbishment. These systems incorporate Kingspan
flex and Kingspan
fix panels
which are used as infill panels and to mechanically fix through,
respectively. These systems are accompanied by a full design
service to ensure that Kingspan
is used as
effectively as possible in the space available.

Design Service
Kingspan
insulation systems come with a
supporting design service which ensures the ratio of Kingspan
to Kingspan
flex and / or fix
for each project is maximised. The panel layout will be
designed quickly and effectively, ready for client approval.
Each layout will illustrate the size, number and location of
Kingspan
panels. It will also illustrate the size,
number and location of any
flex and / or fix
panels required.
