SDP Plan by Mahjabeen Khan

Goal:
To make students lifelong learners through ICT and make them ready for the heavily digital
environments they will encounter in 21st century workplace

Leadership and Management:

The role of Leadership and management is very crucial. The leader has to first set a
shared vision among the team for successful implementation of ICT in school
development. The importance of ICT is must be communicated by the leaders as ICT
enhances leadership to meet the expectations and respond effectively to the
possibilities of todays and tomorrows educational environments. ICT leaders are
mainly responsible for the successful implementation of ICT across the board by taking
parents communities and stakeholders together. It can only be possible if awareness
sessions about ICT importance are communicated to them by leaders and
management. Moreover the most important job of leaders and managers is to ensure
that progress is made in each step and students have improved their ICT skills. Asking
for feedback and suggestions from students is also very important as the modern
curriculum is based on what students wants to learn so the leader must act according
with the student suggestions for further improvement.
Lastly, the leader and management must provide professional development platform
for the facilitators for the successful implementation of ICT plan in the schools.
Teaching and Learning:
Providing the technology alone will not change the teaching style. It is the job of
teacher to understand the ICT concepts before teaching in the class. Teacher must take
same interest to inspire the students. However, ICTs allow teachers to transform their
teacher practices, by gaining the standards of ICT. Therefore if a teacher is well aware
of its subject students will achieve better results. ICT challenge the traditional 'teachercentric' teaching styles where teacher was the only one giving lectures and
participating only. However in today pedagogy ICT has come up with 'learner-centric'
approach in which students are divided in groups and work on different project and
explore thing via project based learning and engaging in discussion which makes them
think and question & challenge the current practices. Further Learning and Teaching
(L&T) make a greater impact in the lives of all learners as school wide leaders and
education reformers. People Learn to Do well only what they practice doing. If students
are expected to apply ideas in new situations, then they must practice applying them in
new situations.
Professional Development:
The plan cannot be successfully implemented if the teachers are not professionally
trained on the usage of ICT. The leadership must provide learning platform where
teachers learn and get professionally trained to share their work globally. In this way
teachers can grow their networks and implement the same standards which are

SDP Plan by Mahjabeen Khan

followed globally. Networking is also fruitful as it gives a big picture of ideas and best
practices which are followed worldwide. Professional development is also necessary to
make more effective use of information and communication technologies for teaching &
to engage more in planning within evaluative and accountability frameworks; and to do
more to involve parents in schools.

Professional development should be the continuous process as technology is upgrading

day by day. It also helps in adopting new teaching styles which 21st century demands.
In a nutshell, It helps in achieving the school development plan successfully.
Parents & Community:
It is mostly seen that when schools, parents & community work together to promote
education it affects the performance of school positively. It also affects the performance
of students as they feel positive and motivated which increase the productivity of
students. Students earn good grades and attend schools regularly.
Having good relations with community gives insights about the changes and trends in
the market. Moreover parents are the important assets as they understand the
adolescent development of a child and helps teacher know the students learning styles
from the parents. Parents also supports in setting home conditions to support learning
at each age and grade level. Also parents help schools in understanding families
backgrounds, cultures, and goals for children. School development plan takes families
as participants in school decisions, governance, and advocacy activities through school
councils or improvement teams, committees, and other organizations and it will only be
possible if they Collaborate with the Community & coordinate resources and services
with families, students, and with community.
Learning Environment: Culture & Infra Structure:
If the school environment is comfortable students and teachers are more likely to
attend the school regularly and they remain healthy. A culture of trust, mutual respect
and regard within relationships, and cooperative engagement of staff and
administrators are components of effective schools. The staff opens with one another,
to build a culture trust among each other.
Moreover, school infrastructure effect on student achievement and helps in improving
the literacy rate of nation. As students shows more interest in learning. Infrastructure
makes the culture of a school. The arrangement in school depicts the culture of it.
Infrastructure gives the first impression of school by looking at the ambiance.
Curriculum and Resource
Curriculum is a systematic and intended packaging of competencies (i.e. knowledge,
skills and attitudes that are underpinned by values) that learners should acquire
through organized learning experiences both in formal and non-formal settings there
are many new and emerging challenges to education and demand on curriculum, such
as new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Through their guiding

SDP Plan by Mahjabeen Khan

function for education agents and stakeholders, clear, inspired and motivational
curriculum documents and materials play an important role in promoting education
quality. Curriculum is implemented by teachers, and depends moreover on the quality
of teaching and learning strategies, learning materials and assessment. ICT part in
curriculum must be highlighted and made compulsory in every level. And resources
must be provided accordingly.
Curriculum must be made to broader students vision. It should be more experiential.
And resources should be provided accordingly.
Policies, Practices, and Systems:
The wide use of information and communications technologies (ICT) in schools has
come to be seen by education policymakers as an important opportunity. They are
attracted to the prospect that ICT can improve student achievement, improve access to
schooling, increase efficiencies and reduce costs, enhance students ability to learn and
promote their lifelong learning, and prepare them for a globally competitive workforce.
The world is experiencing a major shift from an economy and society based on mass
production to knowledge creation. This shift has significant implications for the
development of human resources and for changes in all of the components of the
education system, not just the use of ICT. Within this context, the driving questions that
frame ICT policy are: What is the nations vision of how education can support
economic and social progress, and what are the potential roles of ICT in supporting
educational transform aligned to these goals?
