In present-day personal communication devices the need for antennas of small size and high efciency has generated much
attention to the study of compact microstrip antennas. These antennas exhibit low prole and lightweight properties as well as low
cross polarization radiation in some designs. However, microstrip
antennas inherently have narrow bandwidths and in general are
half-wavelength structures operating at the fundamental resonant
mode TM01 or TM10 [1]. In this study a meander slot antenna is
designed for communication systems with dual-band operation and
reduced size in mind.
A compact meander-type slot antenna with 56% size reduction
has been reported in [2] in which non-uniform slot line widths give

small to t in most currently used personal communication devices. This antenna shows no signicant variations in radiation
pattern characteristics over the bandwidths of both operating frequencies. The effect of geometrical and electrical parameters have
been studied and reported to aid in the design process of this class
of antennas.
