ABOUT THE VOICES

The voices in Analog Collection are all emulations of analog synthesizers,
mostly the vintage ones from the late 70s and early 80s, which was the heyday
of classic analog. The analog sound was produced through oscillators and
circuitry, not via digital computer algorithms, or from samples. The big names in
analog were Moog, Sequential Circuits, Oberheim, and ARP.
Today we have a resurrection of the analog sound and it is more popular than
ever. Virtual analog uses software to recreate the sound of the analog synths
and adds new features like tuning stability and built-in effects. The sounds in the
Analog Collection employ the Motif XS advanced sample playback synthesis
system. They are based on samples (recordings) of notes from the original
analog synthesizers, and through meticulous programming are designed to
mimic the sound and behavior of actual analog synths. The sounds in Analog
Collection are as close as youll get to real analog synth sounds on the Motif XS.
