Senior Engineer - Database Administration

Responsibilities:
Manage and perform all daily operational aspects (maintenance,
upgrading, monitoring, backup, installation, recovery, rebuild,
configuration etc.), of all database and data archival systems
Keep abreast of and recommend innovative and automated
approaches for database administration and optimization tasks
Perform regular monitoring of database systems to identify any
possible unauthorized access, intrusions and other security
events that affect database/data integrity and confidentiality
Part of the team that is responsible for 24x7 operations and
maintenance of networks and systems shift work is expected
Provide Tier 2 support to Tier 1 support staff to handle complex issue
resolution and coordinate/communicate with relevant parties on
problem resolution and updates
Qualifications and Skills:
Degree / Diploma in Computer Engineering (or equivalent)
Minimum 5 years of managing production database systems in UNIX
(e.g. Linux, Solaris) environment and Windows operating system,
with experience in managing large-scale data archival systems
for big data
Strong knowledge in managing relational database systems (e.g.
Oracle, PostGres, MySQL) Experience in NoSQL, analytics and
geospatial databases is an advantage
Database certification such as MCTS/MCITP, OCA/OCP/OCM and
NoSQL or equivalent is an advantage
Ability to program and write scripts in Unix environment, e.g. shell
scripting, Python, Perl, etc., including SQL programming
Strong interest in database technologies, especially in support of big
data systems

Responsibilities
