WE'RE STILL OPEN! WE'RE JUST RENOVATING

RADIO PARTS IS GETTING A NEW SHOWROOM
As many of you know we have embarked on a
major project to expand and renovate the ground
level of Radio Parts. We have decided to split the
project up into 3 stages to allow the continuation
of trading throughout the construction. To date,
we have successfully done this and I appreciate
the care taken by our builders to achieve this
outcome in Stage 1. At the time of writing this
they have begun the demolition of Stage 2, the
big stage, basically our old showroom area. From
this point, unfortunately most of our showroom will
not be accessible. So my apologies go out to our
customers coming in to Spencer St as well as our

showroom staff. The plus side is our warehouse

and delivery services should remain unchanged
and we have also opened up the 'near completed'
Stage 1 area to give customers a taste of what's
to come.
By the time you are reading this update we should
be near completed the Stage 2 area. Over the
coming weeks we should be working on the final
stage of the showroom which will be the entrance
and cashier area. The resounding question that you
ask is 'when will it be completed?' and the short
answer is: Mid-June!

For more and more applications, Lithium Iron Phostphate is emerging as a better choice in
terms of battery chemistry. For those not aware of Lithium Iron, here's a crash course!
and has an even greater life-span.

First, it's not a typo. Lithium Iron (or affectionately

known as LiFePO4) is a type of Lithium Ion
battery, but different to that battery in your
mobile phone and tablet.

The big question is when to use Lithium Iron and

when to stick to the trusty SLA battery.
For standby applications like home security
systems, SLA batteries will continue to be
used. In cycling applications, like UPSes, solar
and vehicles, Lithium Iron will often be a better

make ups, namely light weight, quick recharge,
deeper discharge (80% DOD), more cycles (life),
battery management and wider temperature
range, yet not the drawbacks, as it's non-toxic

though increasingly we are being asked about cheaper Chinese alternatives.
