Some students insist on leaving their belongings on a desk despite leaving the library for several hours. This has left many students jockeying
for positions on group desks and it’s only a mystery as to how violence or an exchange of words hasn’t broken out.
Final year Business Management student Eamonn Armstrong said, “I’ve often turned up to the library to prepare for really important exams,
only to find countless desks occupied by books, but with no presence of human life. Next time I’m going to leave one piece of paper and a
pen the night before, and turn up the next day in the afternoon. This problem is getting a little out of hand.”
This problem is very similar to the hotel sun bed saga, which plagues resorts across the globe. Some tourists deliberately wake up at
unthinkable hours in the morning to occupy the ‘best spots’ by the pool, only to return after lunch. Other rational holiday goers are left in the
shade among an outbreak of ‘empty’ sun beds.
If you’re planning on leaving the library for a considerable amount of time, it should occur to you that another student might need to occupy
your desk or computer. Please consider this before the library turns into a game of musical chairs.

The conditions had a severe effect on academic activities, which were cancelled or postponed to prevent students travelling on or around the
area. Most coursework deadlines were extended, as the email accounts of students were flooded with University announcements. Measures by
local councils to anticipate severe weather conditions and the general public’s reaction to the weather has been the topic of debate ever since
the first few hours of snowfall. Did local councils react fast enough and were there sufficient resources in place to manage the conditions? Also,
did the general public overreact to what is an unsurprising effect of winter weather?
In the days after the initial snowfall, the University Estates and Facilities Management began clearing snow from vital pathways and pavements
on campus to prevent the build up of ice. Furthermore, brave staff responsible for administration tasks and general management turned up to
work and kept the basic essential functions of the University running.
What did you think of the University’s reaction to the conditions? Also, take a look at photographs of
the snow on campus in the Society section of this newspaper.

The Importance of Procrastination
by Stephanie Davies
We’ve all been there: the deadline for the essay is fast approaching, and our
word count is lower than the predicted sales of Jedward’s first single. Instead
of buckling down and finishing what needs to be done, we suddenly realise
that our rooms are in desperate need of a tidy, or that we have neglected
Facebook for four minutes too long.
Alas, procrastination is a universal human student condition. But I’m here to
say that that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
It’s rational for us to avoid tasks that make us uncomfortable and favour
those that offer instant gratification. Admittedly, procrastination seems a little
counterintuitive – the very definition of the word means that we’re not doing
what we “should” be doing – but strictly speaking, it’s impossible to avoid
procrastination, as there are always a million other things that you could be
working on at any time. The trick is to choose one type of procrastination
above another.
HOW IT WORKS
We are aiming for 1:1 ratio of students to employers, ensuring that each of you
will be able to get some great networking practice in. The evening will begin
with two short talks on communicating via social media and marketing through
web technologies. In order to get the conversation flowing between you and the
employers, we are setting up the remainder of the evening in an open exhibition
format, with students giving presentations on the latest web 2.0 technologies.
This informal and relaxed environment, complimented by the list of networking
tips that we will provide you with, will guarantee that you are perfectly equipped
to begin your networking, and really show your stuff!...and yes, the all important
nibbles will be provided!

Hi my darling! How you’ve been? In the first place I hope you had the best
holidays ever and at the same time I would love to wish you a fantastic New
Year!
Christmas and New Year’s Eve were both amazingly fun! We’ve all enjoyed our
time and because we love partying now it’s time to celebrate love.
To my mind, it doesn’t really matter if you’ve found or not your soul mate.
You can always be in love with your life, isn’t it? And even though I don’t
know how much do you agree with me I still believe you should enjoy
Valentine’s Day.

The story is based on the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale of ‘The Frog Prince’. A voodoo curse is conjured upon

The film is pretty archaic and nonetheless harmless. It seems unfair to weigh it up against such 3D animations

whole narrative arc is, it is amiable enough to pass a good Saturday afternoon. I would certainly endorse the film
