ControlDesk Next Generation - No data are visible in


the plotter

Question
No data are visible in the plotter even though the measurement is running. What can I do?
Solution
If no data are visible in the plotter even though the measurement is running, this might have the
following reasons:
1. The data are measured but the plotter does not display them. This might happen if the start trigger
for the plotter visualisation is not fired.
2. For dSPACE platforms only: The trigger of the raster used for the visualized signals is not fired.
The raster then does not transmit any data.
Start trigger is not fired
Change the trigger assignment of the plotter.
Right-click on the Triggered Visualisation button in the plotter and select a suitable trigger
configuration by selecting the corresponding raster. In the context menu the plotter offers a list of
those rasters that are currently used in this plotter for visualisation. When you move the mouse over
the different raster entries without clicking, the plotter shows a preview of the resulting configuration.
Note: This feature was introduced with ControlDesk Next Generation 4.1.

Alternatively, left-click on the Triggered Visualisation button in the plotter to enable / disable triggered
visualisation.
Note: In ControlDesk Next Generation 4.0 a double-click is required.

The raster then does not transmit any data


Check the trigger configuration of the raster used for the desired signal.

Check if the trigger condition can become true for the referenced signal. To see the current value of
the variable in the plotter, disable the trigger. Alternatively, visualize the variable in a numeric display
instrument. For dSPACE platforms, numeric display instruments show the current values of a variable
even if measurement is not running or not configured correctly.
