Dear
Mr.
Inman:
Approximately
six
months
have
passed
since
I
received
your
letter,
dated
June
12,
2014,
suggesting
that
I
contact
an
investigator
with
your
office
regarding
allegations
of
serious
misconduct
by
the
New
Jersey
Attorney
General.
In
addition
to
myself,
these
same
charges
have
been
made
by
two
former
career
prosecutors
who
also
served
in
the
Hunterdon
County
Prosecutors
Office
during
the
relevant
time
period.
I
immediately
contacted
Investigator
Mahoney
and
provided
him,
on
an
ongoing
basis,
with
documents
that
directly
corroborate
these
serious
allegations
of
public
corruption.
Not
once
did
Investigator
Mahoney
acknowledge
receipt,
much
less
a
review,
of
these
documents.
Nor
were
my
colleagues
or
I
contacted
for
the
purpose
of
discussing
our
allegations
directly
with
staff
from
your
office.
This
week
I
discovered
that
Investigator
Mahoneys
name
appears
in
a
court
filing
(attached)
prepared
at
least
one
year
ago
by
former
Hunterdon
County
Sheriff
Deborah
Trouts
civil
attorney.
The
document,
captioned
Plaintiffs
Rule
26
Disclosures,
lists
potential
witnesses
whom
Trout
believes
possess
discoverable
information
in
connection
with
her
civil
suit
against
Hunterdon
County.
I
have
no
conceivable
idea
why
the
targets
of
the
Hunterdon
criminal
investigation
identified
Investigator
Mahoney
as
a
potential
witness.
Nor
do
I
expect
you
or
Investigator
Mahoney
to
furnish
me
with
an
explanation.
What
is
apparent
is
that
your
office
has
evinced
no
interest
at
all
in
pursuing
this
matter
despite
the
steady
accumulation
of
incriminating
evidence
and
the
very
public
allegations
made
by
three
career
prosecutors
with
unblemished
records.
In
my
experience,
criminal
investigations
have
been
initiated
on
the
basis
of
far
less.
In
this
vein,
I
feel
compelled
to
note
that
many
of
those
directly
and
indirectly
implicated
in
this
matter
are
former
federal
prosecutors
affiliated
with
your
office,
including
the
current
and
two
prior
Attorneys
General
appointed
by
Governor
Christie.
Please
be
advised
that
a
copy
of
this
letter
as
well
as
all
material
Ive
thus
far
provided
Investigator
Mahoney
are
being
sent
to
the
Public
Integrity
Section
of
the
United
States
Department
of
Justice
for
consideration.
Sincerely,
Bennett
Barlyn,
Esq.
Encl.
