1. DEVELOPMENT OF SKILLS.

Evidence of having read the required

material.
The orientation to any company before getting involved into their
process starts with the reading about the company. It is very
important to have studied all the material relevant to the
organization. Theories are generally considered to be a base and
foundation for any kind of concept or aspect. I have referred the
core process of the company from production to export more
over have been in constant conversation with Mr.Nandan about
the same for better understanding and clarity. Also had referred
the Companys Manual to get a brief idea of Laws and Provisions
applicable in the organisation and also I had gone through the
process of employee Welfare.

Ability to plan, work with

understanding of its purpose to put
into practice the plan made in
supervisory conference.
Planning requires a complete overview of the situation as well as
analysis of a situation in consideration of all the aspects. Planning

plays an important role for success of any task in an organization.

It is therefore said thing well planned is half done. In my
supervisory conference I had frequently discussed the things that
can be taken up at my agency. I was guided to plan out the things
to be learned during field work well in advance. I have followed
that habit of planning my activities in advance on what all things I
have to discuss with my agency personnel as per the need of my
learning and scope at the organization. I also got opportunity to
Plan Industrial Visit for College Student at our Agency.

Skill in obtaining information from

various sources within and outside
organization.
Within the agency information is mostly obtained through the
manuals prepared for reference and constant touch with
Mr.Nandan. Also discussion with my agency personnel & other
colleagues helps me to know more about the organization. The
skill of obtaining information is very critical in any profession.
Outside agency I get most of the information through Collateral
readings and Lecture-Seminars conducted by our faculty. Also,
opportunity to meet new people help to enhance my quantity and
quality of information.
For instance I came to know about show cause notice, strike
issues and some unique HR Practices through the group
Conferences. The Howard Business Review and other books also

gives us latest information about HR and how they are modified

to suit the organizational needs. Also this time we had students
seminar in which we had to interview an entrepreneur which gave
a ground experience to collect information from externals.

Ability to present detailed regarding

function of the student and evaluate
in from of report.
Report writing is the practice of identifying and classifying
activities which we have done in the company. The work done in
the organization has to be properly presented to the supervisor in
the form of the weekly reports. While writing report I include the
objectives, activities performed for the day. After describing the
process, specific observation and lastly record the learnings out
of the performed activities, the discussions with the agency
personnel and other employees and from my own understanding
of a situation as to what I observed and seek from it. But it turns
always difficult to express experiences in words. Still I try to
confide my experiences within 26 letters.

2.SKILL MAKING
ANALYTICAL,CRITICAL & OBJECTIVE
STUDY:
Evidence of application of theoretical
knowledge to the understanding of
relationships between employer and
employee, and between employee
and employee.
Application of theory is very necessary for understanding the
practicality of theories applicable in the organizations. Employee
welfare and is very important for maintaining the relationships
between employee and its employer and organization. The style
of management that I have seen at Swiss Pac., Padra is
democratic, where each ones view is considered and then with a
final consultation a decision is met. The decision is not imposed
on the workers even though they can (legally). All needs of the
worker are understood, the attitude of employer and

management treats Employees more as an family members than

of means of production.
For instance the workers are asked whether they can work for
overtime or not and if not than they are not forced to stay for
overtime. Also workers have flexibility to Visit Mr.Prashant (Owner
of SWISS PAC)to present any queries or suggestions. Cold Mineral
water, refreshments, Restrooms, Separate Women Restroom,
Kitchen and Canteen Facilities and Transportation facilities are
given to employees. The production unit has proper Lighting and
air ventilation.
The Informal conduct of employer with Workers, Wishing them
Good day showing them attachment about their personal issues
and try to solve them , empathetic feeling of employer smoothens
most amount of relation within the organization.

Ability to see critically various

Labour legislations and the ways in
which requirements laid down in the
laws are being met in the factory.
Theoretical understanding of the labor legislations means
understanding the provisions and then to see how the provisions
are applied in the fieldwork agency based on the types of the
organization. There are various laws and legislation applicable at
SWISS PAC Ltd., Padra which I have referred in the companys

manual, like Factories Act, Minimum Wages Act, ESCI Act,

Employee Compensation Act, Industrial Dispute Act etc. I have
also seen the practical applicability of these legislations in the
organisation. All the documents and forms are maintained as per
Act and other compliances are also taken care of on timely basis.
The requirements of overtime provisions are always strictly
maintained along with other provisions and the organisation also
keeps the entire permission and legal document well updated.
I was asked to verify P.F and nominee forms of the employees and
employees profile.

Ability to see critically HR Practices

and use of HRM theories and
knowledge in the field work agency.
The various HR subsystems are Manpower planning, Recruitment
and Selection, induction, training and development, welfare and
safety programmes, performance management system, etc. Until
now I have learned about training, Post training Procedures,
calculation of Overtime Hours and its Payment, Leave and
attendance management, Competency mapping, welfare Policies
of company and other health & safety Provisions.

Within the SWISS Pac, I have come across the process of ERecruitment with help of creating web portals.

Awareness to establish working

relationship with the Labour welfare
officer, Personnel officer, HR officer,
his colleagues and Labour.
The regular interaction with other colleague have helped me a lot
in understanding the procedure and policies with a practical
dimension. It is very important to establish relationships with the
people in the closest proximity to you at the work place.
Establishing good and professional relationships makes the
working easy and also generates a good atmosphere and culture
in the organization.
My Major interaction is with Nandan sir who handles the HR and
Client related task at the plant. As the organisation is too small so
there is no labour welfare officer as those responsibilities are also
taken care by Nandan Sir. Apart from that I have maintained a

nice rapport among few employees of the organization and sir

helps me understand my discussions in more practical way.

Acceptance of limitation in the

learning opportunities with the
agency personnel.
Limitation in the learning opportunities as a trainee comes
naturally. Though Nandan Sir is extremely supportive and
cooperative, but there are times when I am not able to proceed
with my discussions and learning. The major limitations that come
are the timings and companys privacy policy. As Nandan Sir is
handling the HR & Client Related activities of plant at the same
time, so he is not able to contribute much of his time for
discussions. Also Most of the time because of being just a student
trainee I am not involved into vital processes.
At Swiss Pac., Padra every procedure is carried out online and
through paperless communication and so this is also one of the
reason that I am not provided with some practical work to do as
being just a trainee.

Development in awareness regarding

the applicability of HRM techniques
in the field
My company being a manufacturing Division, Various HRM
techniques are used for the Leave management, salary and
wages administration and providing training. The employees are
given training as per ISO and other training for safety, health, and
awareness as the company is an ISO-9001-2008 certified
company. The company also has a policy of giving a percent of
the salary as a variable pay as an incentives, based on the
performance in the year. Competency mapping being used for the
same was also new for me to learn.

Show some self confidence in his

growing knowledge and skills
attitude.
As an HR person, I have to Understand management and
Employees at the same time. I have overcome to rational

thinking. An HR Personnel motivates others in the organization to

perform better and built confidence in them and also he himself
has to be positively charged and confident. I have developed my
learning and skills in the areas of Employee Welfare, handling
employees conflicts, Leave Management, performance appraisal,
so far. I can say that I have quite a good knowledge and grasp
over these things now. After learning these things I have now
more eagerness to learn even more about related topics.

Active participation in evaluating

himself and ability to see many of his
own strength and weakness.
Initially we had our SWOT Analysis of self which was discussed
with Deepak sir that helped me analyses my own Strengths and
Weaknesses. After that self evaluation I am able to evaluate my
situation at field work whenever I see my strength playing a vital
role in my learning process and also when my weakness becomes
a barrier in the same. Also at the time of mid-term evaluation
conference and several daily supervisory conferences I was able
to make out certain points which Deepak Sir used to evaluate.

3. DEVELOPMENT OF
POTENTIALITIES AS HR
PERSONNEL IN INDUSTRY
Understanding of the HR officers /
P.O. role in relation to the employer,
employee and state his role during
legal strikes and lock-out and his
role when certain needs and
demands of workers cannot be met.
HR is more of a strategic partner of the business rather than just
the employee. At SWISS Pac, Vikas sir and Nandan sir are
responsible for HR as well as IR related issues. I have witnessed
them maintaining a harmonious relation with the employees and
the employers.
For instance when a case came of worker being absent for a
month and then re joining the job, that situation was well handled
by Vikas sir. Sir took the supervisor in confidence and took a
decision which was in favor of the organization. And also that
worker was not miss treated. Sir always gets involved in the

grievance handling procedures and follows a open door policy

which helps in resolving misunderstanding.

Capacity to work in term and under

authority.
I have been working under the authority of Mr. Nandan and
Mr.Vikas for all the HR & IR related programs. Working under his
authority has been a good experience as he gives a lot of
guidance and practical knowledge of the same.

4. ADJUSTMENT WITHIN AGENCY

SETTINGS

Should recognize individuals or

groups need in relation to service of
the agency and when the need
cannot be met to be able to deny the
request fairly comfortably.
Sometimes it may happen that certain services of the
organization are a little difficult to understand. Nandan Sir many
times comes in certain situation where denying becomes
important though difficult. Whether it is the unreasonable demand
of extra wages by the workers, or permission of bringing in extra
labours sometimes or demanding wages without working. In such
moments the need cannot be met and the request had to be
denied with valid reasons.

Should know agency set-up policy

and method of hiring personnel
The agency set-up and structure was explained to me by Mr.
Nandan , SWISS PAC is a leading manufacturing unit in personised
Packaging Solutions and it Exports 90% of its production
overseas. Our manufacturing facilities are set up in USA, UK,
China, Africa, Canada and Australia. The company has a wide
horizontal organizational structure and also has complex reporting

systems to their respective superiors. The policy therefore differs

as per the departments requirement and structure.
I have witnessed the recruitment process of executive and also
have been a part of recruiting apprentice. The personnel are hired
after a proper screening by the contractual company and later on
interviews are taken with the panel member of HR Head, and
concerned department Head.

Should have clear understanding of

his role and be able to work in cooperation with other members of
organization.
My role in Swiss Pac as a student is to understand the various HR
functions of the organization, to get a good hold on the various
sub-systems by getting adequate exposure to all of them. My role
is to facilitate in the functions and contribute whenever possible.
For this I believe co-operation from all the people is a must. The

employees of agency do have loads of work and so it is necessary

that I work as per the timings and availability of HR Personnels.
Though Nandan Sir is busy but still he makes time to have
discussions with me regarding HR Practices and guide me
whenever needed.

5. DEVELOPMENT OF CAPACITY TO
USE SUPERVISION

Should be able to utilize actively the

supervisory process to improve his
own practice and to show some
ability to work with the supervisor on
planning and executing activities in
the agency/ organization.
The supervisory conferences are the most important part of our
field work. Conferences are a constant evaluator of our progress.
Conferences help correct deviations if any and make work more
productive. The knowledge of my supervisor helps me make my
work more productive. His guidance on how we can make more
learnings as per different situation has helped me grow my
knowledge base. It helps me to gain guidance and keep a check
as to whether I am moving in the right direction. Field work
supervision is a very important part because our supervisor is an
experienced person and the main thing that they teach us is
professionalism.

Should come to conference with plans for

discussion and should actively participation
in discussion.
In weekly supervisory conferences I discuss with my supervisor
the various activities I do in the agency along with the
observations I make and the learnings I get. Based on the
discussion, Deepak Sir gives his view and also several examples
and experiences which are relative to the topic. It helps me
improve my knowledge base to make it more effective for myself
and the agency. I get to know what my areas of improvement are
based on the things I write in my reports. Also Sir gives us
guidance on how can we improve our leanings and report writing.

Should be an active participant in

the evaluation process.
In my conferences which I had so far, I have tried my best to get
involve actively and have a two-way communication. The purpose
of conference is to empower us with the skills and potentials & to
make us a better HR Professional in future. Critical feedback has
always helped me do better in terms of extra efforts and inputs.

6. DEVELOPMENT OF PROFESSIONAL
ATTITUDE
Should assure responsibility for
appointments, confidentiality and for
work as required, regardless of
personal convenience.
Professionalism is to be adopted for every person to work in an
organization. I made sure to maintain the confidentiality and thus
not disclosing important manuals and procedures which were
explained to me during my field work. Also regardless of my own
convenience I have always adjusted my timings as per the agency
which is expected out of me and this also helps for better results.

Capacity to from relationships with

individuals and groups.
Cordial relationships with all help in the making the best use of
resources for some or the other functions. Some relationships are
for short period of time and some are long lasting. Rapport
building is one of the most important tasks in any fieldwork
practice. I was able to for a good rapport with my agency
personnel and few other employees of the organization which

helps in gaining more knowledge and information about the

working at the agency.

Should show evidence of integration

of knowledge and ability to from
purposely relationships with the
people.
A professional relationship should be developed and it should be
very objective in nature and one should always stay in the sphere
of work. As stated earlier I was able to form professional
relationship and this becomes important because if one is not
capable of building relationships with people then carrying out
tasks and activities would become difficult. Building positive
relationships helps to communicate the ideas and implement
programmes with less resistance. So a purposeful relationship
should be developed and it should be very objective in nature.
Relationships require trust, understanding, acceptability, etc.
These relationships can be used in a very positive way on the
personal as well as the professional front.
