Final
Project
SPRING
2015
The
Final
Project
is
a
Pro
Tools
session
file
containing
a
final
mix
of
an
original
composition
or
original
arrangement,
and
may
can
be
a
piece
youre
preparing
for
another
class.
Format=44.1k/24
bit.
It
must
include
at
minimum
a
rhythm
section
(drums
or
percussion,
bass
and
accompaniment)
a
melodic
track
(instrumental
or
vocal)
and
must
be
at
least
3
minutes
long.
Of
course
it
may
include
anything
else
you
wish
and
be
in
any
musical
style.
Other
requirements:
Any
midi
tracks
must
be
rendered
individually
to
audio
(i.e.
kick,
snare,
toms,
hat,
etc).
A
live
audio
percussion
loop
must
be
included
at
some
point.
Your
Apple
Loops
for
Garageband
folder
is
a
good
source,
but
remember
they
likely
need
editing
in
order
to
loop
properly
in
PT.
There
must
at
least
two
AUX
tracks
for
reverb
(one
for
percussion,
the
other
for
everything
else).
Complete
understanding
of
inputs/outputs,
Aux
tracks,
routing,
automation,
busses
and
inserts
must
be
demonstrated.
Effective
use
of
compression
and
EQ
must
be
shown.
Theres
no
need
to
use
EQ
or
compression
on
every
track,
but
certainly
a
few
tracks
will
benefit
from
basic
EQ
and/or
compression
usage.
Use
only
plugins
that
are
available
in
the
CWP
bundle.
Other
plugins
must
be
approved
by
the
instructor.
Use
editing
techniques
to
tune
and
tighten
sloppy
performances.
Feel
free
to
use
other
effects
weve
covered
including
long
delay,
chorus,
flange,
delay,
pitch
repair
or
editing,
Elastic
Time,
etc.
Extra
credit
will
be
considered
for
proper
use
of
other
effects.
Some
actual
microphone
recorded
tracks
(guitars,
vocals,
horns,
etc)
must
be
used
(in
other
words,
dont
emphasize
midi
tracks).
Use
any
of
the
plugins
available
in
CWP
bundle
in
order
to
create
a
good
mix.
Once
satisfied
with
your
mix,
insert
a
Peak
Limiter
on
the
Master
Fader
to
get
a
few
db
of
gain
reduction,
and
give
your
mix
a
bit
more
volume.
Leave
0.2db
headroom.
Bounce
to
disk
for
your
final
mix,
choosing
interleaved
stereo
and
import
after
bounce.
Include
your
stereo
mix
as
a
muted
stereo
track
in
the
Pro
Tools
session.
The
project
will
be
graded
on
effort,
professional
presentation,
organization
and
file
setup,
sound
processing
understanding,
and
mixing
and
editing
ability.
Creativity
and
experimentation
are
encouraged.
You
will
submit
your
complete
project
folder
onto
my
hard
drive
the
last
day
of
class.
Be
certain
that
all
necessary
audio
files
are
included
in
the
audio
files
folder
and
unused
takes
and
files
are
not
included!
