Spring-Summer 1980
Dear Friends:
that brought the days' events into focus: "The Late Great Planet
Earth." As we heard prophecy of increased volcanic activity in the end
tiihes, I felt the walls of"Ehe theater to see if they were heating up:
People throughout the Northwest are suffering from "ashid"
indigestion as the mountain continues to do her thing.
Sandy and I covet your prayers on her behalf and for the men who
are taking responsibility for the Christian Body in Cuiaba. Our oldest
Christians have just under two years in Christ and most are much

younger. They need the power of the Holy Spirit, unleashed by your
fervent prayers.
Bruce and June Colson, our co-workers, since our 1977 furloughs,
will be spending seven months in the States. They will bring Mistie with
them, and send her out to the West Coast the end of June. Mistie will
visit Grandparents, in-laws and out-laws following the North American
Christian Convention in Seattle, and return to Brazil with me in August
after Wi-Ne-Ma Week of Missions and the dedication of Issaquah's new
building on August 10. We still plan a Family Furlough from November
through January of '82-'83 or '83-'84.
May the Lord bless and give you courage as you remember the
words of I John 2:17: ".. . the World passeth away and the lust
thereof; but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever."

time for singing and coloring while the adults are studying and taking Communion.
This arrangement seems to be working out very nicely. Our women are meeting on
Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Pray that the Lord will deeply touch them because
many are weak in the faith.

Hi, I have a good, good teacher but I don't know her name. In Portuguese the
name for teacher is Professora. And the little ones call their teacher "Titia" which
means Aunt. I have 20 people in my class because there are two Grades in my room:
the 4th and 3rd and I'm in the 3rd. I have a lot of friends and they always come
here and play with me and we sing a whole "gob." I have another friend and she
lives a little bit aways. She has a swimming pool
and we swim there. Her name is Paula. Marlene,
she's one of my friends, too, and one time she
came and took us to a friend of hers. And there

The Bunch family recently had extensive physical exams at a clinic halfway
between Cuiaba and Uberlandia. We all had a variety of worms (common here) and
everyone but Corey had bladder
infections. Sandy is treating a uterine
infection and my E.K.G. indicated a
first-degree heart block. The doctor said
I needed to continue running and to
avoid stress as much as possible.
My plans are to leave the family for
about three months beginning next
Spring and to visit with the churches in
the Northwest. I plan to arrive in
Portland the first part of May and to
spend time with the Oregon churches and
relatives, going on to the Seattle area the
end of the month. These plans are very

resource to take care of them so she adopted them out. The baby
brother is now adopted by our close friend, Barbara Vogel, who lives in

Hi, people in the States. I'm very good here in Cuiaba but it's
pretty hot. In the States you can't go swimming outdoors all the time
but you can herethat's why it's good here. Did you know that our
