After the spectacular EB and amazing start of the two committees, CCPCJ and IAEA at PECMUN 1.

0,
we were all set to be bigger and better this year.
The Speakers' Association and Study Circle of PEC University of Technology was host to the second
edition PECMUN 2.0 on the 21st and 22nd of February 2015. The two day conference witnessed intense
debating where delegates in line with their foreign policy, determination, grit and the ambition to become
diligent diplomats have lead to success of the four committees mentioned below
1. AFRICAN UNION
The committee had heated discussion on the failed missions in Africa, highlighting the human rights
violations by the African Union Peacekeepers questioning the composition and accountability of
peacekeeping forces.
Then, on the introduction of crisis, the delegates deliberated and discussed the flaws existing across
borders and the execution of Maritime Laws.
2. UN SECURITY COUNCIL
The committee very competently tackled the political situation in the immediate aftermath of 9/11 and
the actively looked for mitigating damage.
The debate was eventually elevated to a point where discussion on prevention of such an event in
future took place with some worthy measures proposed by the delegates.
3. UN COMMITTEE ON PEACEFUL USES OF OUTER SPACE (UNCOPUOS)
The committee, one of the most looked forward to in this edition of PECMUN, had an interesting and
well varied discussion on methods to reduce disaster management in outer space.
Later on in the session, a crisis developed which involved an American satellite being destroyed after
colliding with an unidentified body landing in Syria.
4. UN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL
UNHRC dealt with the struggle of IDP and asylum seekers and how the refugees must be provided with
basic human rights.
Between the intense discussions, the delegates tried, with success, to bring about solutions to the problem
of porous borders and meeting certain standards of Human Rights provided to the refugees.
The Speakers' Association and Study Circle successfully achieved its goal to raise the level of MUNs in
Chandigarh by hosting the African Union, which the Chandigarh MUN Circuit has witnessed never
before. Not only the committees agenda and delegates helped in achieving the set goal, but also the EB
members with their active participation, patience and timely guidance to the delegates have set a new bar.
Not to forget, the International Press Members did a commendable job by capturing all the tensed as well
as light moments of the committees. Not only did they do a tedious job going around and looking for
good camera moments but also maintained a good record of the committees happenings.

Lastly the organizing committee and secretariat of PECMUN 2.0 deserve all the credit for their hard work
without which such a tremendous conference would not have been possible. Starting from the opening
ceremony, be it food or delegate kits or the needs and comfort of the delegates, to the nostalgic closing
video they managed to take care of it all.
With this, The Speakers' Association and Study Circle looks forward to organizing an even greater MUN
the next year.
