Nutrition Intervention
1. Meals & Snacks
o Dietary changes: consume dairy products low in fat. For example
skim or 1% milk, fat free cheese & yogurt. Change sugary
cereals to whole wheat options.
o Consume grilled/baked foods instead of fry foods. For example,
grill chicken & fish sandwich, salad, baked potatoes & steamed
vegetables.
o Consume lean cuts of meats. For example lean ground meat &
chicken/turkey w/out skin. Instead of cheesy foods, sprinkle fat
free cheese options, used low fat/low sodium dressings. For
example, fresh herb salad dressings such as olive oil with dill,
chives, basil & ground pepper. Sprinkle nuts and dry fruit on
your salad. For example, cashews, peanuts & almonds.
Consume home-made salsas instead of gravy. Some examples
are pico de gallo (chopped tomato, cilantro & onion; add
pepper if like spicy), guacamole, green/red tomato sauce.
Change fry method cooking for grill, baked, steam & poach
styles.
