Classical Argument Worksheet

The following worksheet is designed to prepare you for the Classical Argument assignment by
asking you to think critically about the assignment description and how to complete the
assignment. While for some of the questions it may be possible to copy the answers out of the
handbook, you will get more out of the assignment if you take the time to process what the
assignment description says and then answer in your own words. Please use the back of this
paper or a separate sheet of paper for more room.

1. What are the requirements of the Classical Argument assignment?


A classical argument happens when someone uses rhetoric techniques orally or someone
giving a persuasive speech. I have to make sure to use the format of a classical argument for my
argument paper. Although, I have to use creativity, voice, and rhetoric moves for the audience I
have to writing for.
I have to have at least 3 pages that are typed, use 12 font Times New Roman, be doubled spaced
and have one inch margins.
I should have the order from introduction (including context and thesis), main points, opposing
views, response to opposing views, and conclusion in my paper. Also, I should have source
citations, transitions in my sentences and use good grammar in my paper.

2. What are some ways I can go about completing this assignment? What steps should I
take?
I should make sure to have an outline in my paper of what I am going to write about. I must find
good sources and talk to my teacher if these sources is appropriate for my essay or not. I will try
to retain my information as accurately as possible from my sources and cite them in my paper. I
will ask my teacher about any questions I have about my paper to see if I am taking the right
steps to type my paper. I will use the classical argument templates to write my paper.

3. What skills have I learned in this class that will help me complete this assignment?
I know how to input citations in my writing. I have to cite any idea I got from anyone. I
have to use the right grammar when quoting someone. Using ethos, pathos, logos and
Kairos will be very important for my writing.

4. What skills will I learn from completing this assignment?


I will learn how to write an argument essay that has both truth and persuasion with the right
audience. I will make sure to write a paper that my audience will understand and learn from. I
forgot how to write a thesis, so I hope I know how to write a thesis in my writing. I have to know
how to utilize the argument template for my writing.
