Baby dumping is not a new issue in Malaysia and it

has become one of the primary concerns among
Malaysians, and it caused by the collapse of the
family institution, influence from the mass media,
and lack of religious understanding and knowledge.
Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil encourage a couple
or unmarried pregnant young teenager to go to the
office of the Social Welfare Department (SWD),
hospitals, police or non-government organization
(NGO) for help or guidance instead of dumping the
baby away (Hukuman Mati Kes Buang Bayi, 2010)

One way to overcome baby dumping is by

implementing educations in schools and
universities, because teenagers not exposed to
education will follow their sexual urges without
thinking of the consequences of unwanted
pregnancies.
Throughout the world, many people do agreed that
sex education programs is part of the solution to the
problem of baby dumping caused by lack basic
knowledge of sex and reproduction (Dick, Ferguson
& Ross, 2006)
Preventing baby dumping through sex education
may vary considerably in quality and content due to
some teachers being too embarrassed which can
result in little information received by students.

Another way of coping with baby dumping among

Malaysian teenagers is by restricting access to
pornography websites.
Through internet, young teenagers can access
pornography just in few clicks, learn the unwanted
behavior from what they seen and have in high
possibility for them to do what they had seen.
Restricting access in pornography website might not
be an efficient way to overcome the problem of
dumping baby among Malaysian teenagers in a
short time, but if all parties work together, it could
be controlled.

The proposal put forward in this essay to achieve

both in the long and short term such as,
implementing sexuality education at school and
university, creating baby hatcheries and restricting
access to pornography website.
Using emotional approach combining the three
proposed solutions would seem to be the best way
to tackle the problem of baby dumping.
Cooperation among all Malaysians is the best way
to prevent rising cases of baby dumping among
Malaysian teenagers.
