Definition of Synonyms
Synonyms are words with the same or similar meanings. Words that are
synonyms are said to be synonymous, and the state of being a synonym is
called synonymy. The word comes from Ancient Greek syn () ("with") and
onoma () ("name"). In the figurative sense, two words are often said to
be synonymous if they have the same connotation. Synonyms can be any part
of speech (such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs or prepositions), as long
as both words are the same part of speech.

Definition of Polysemy
Polysemy (pron.: /plsmi/ or /plsimi/ from Greek:, poly-, "many" and
sma, "sign") is the capacity for a sign (e.g., a word, phrase, etc.) or signs
to have multiple related meanings. A polyseme is a word or phrase with
different, but related senses.

The word homonym comes from the Greek (homonumos), meaning
"having the same name", which is the conjunction homos, "common,
same" and onoma meaning "name". In linguistics, a homonym is, in the
