Im piecing my theory together from others I have read, so know that not all

of these are my original thinking, nor do I claim that they are.

Lets begin with FNAF 2, since it takes place first. One thing to note is that
the new animatronics (toy chica/bonnie/freddy) are much more active
during the first nights than the later ones up until night 5. In conjunction
with that, the old animatronics are very inactive until night 3. To tie it
together, heres the phone call on night four:
Someone may have tampered with their facial recognition systems we're not sure. But the characters have been acting very unusual, almost
aggressive towards the staf.
I dont think its a coincidence that the old animatronics become more active
after the facial recognition systems have been tampered with. I think that
the murderer has messed with the recognition systems to keep them from
recognizing him as the murderer. Since the characters stare at adults, I
believe they are unable to distinguish features of the face, so they stare until
they find something (or dont and get distracted by the children). Since they
can no longer recognize people, they are less active because they dont
recognize the security uniform. The older ones become more active because
the game has to get harder for one, so they cant just let all the animatronics
become less active, but also because the Springtrap suit is being used for
the murders. Since the old animatronics are in the back with the suit, they
see who gets in and out and they witness the murders. The phone call on
night three gives a hint that something is going on during the day.
Oh, hey, before I go, uh, I wanted to ease your mind about any rumors you
might have heard lately. You know how these local stories come and go
and seldom mean anything. I can personally assure you that, whatever is
going on out there, and however tragic it may be, has nothing to do
with our establishment. It's just all rumor and speculation... People trying
to make a buck. You know... Uh, our guard during the day has reported
nothing unusual. And he's on watch from opening til close.
My theory here is that the day guard is the murderer. Yeah, I know, we all
want it to be phone guy or the player, but I dont think it is. Night three is
when there is a lot of talk about murders and disappearances and they are
being linked to the restaurant, meaning the murders have probably been
happening all along, and are now coming to light. This also gives a hint as to
why the very next night, the facial recognition systems are haywire. The
murderer is trying to cover his bases so he wont be caught.

Um, from what I understand, the building is on lockdown, uh, no one is

allowed in or out, y'know, especially concerning any...previous
employees. Um, when we get it all sorted out, we may move you to the
day shift, a position just became...available.
This call from night five gives more weight to my theory. A previous
employee died and now a day shift is available. By the way phone guy is
speaking, the loss of the employee is linked to the murders, giving high
probability that said employee is the murderer, or at least connected in some
way. Notice that the day guard position is now open See, its totally the
day guard! I also believe the day guard is purple guy simply because we
know purple guy is the killer thanks to FNAF 3, and he also wears a badge
like a guard would. Now, stay with me here, but this is the call from night
six.
[] the place is closed down, uh, at least for a while. Someone used one
of the suits. We had a spare in the back, a yellow one, someone used
it...now none of them are acting right. Listen j-just finish your shift its
safer than trying to leave in the middle of the night. Uh we have one more
event scheduled for tomorrow, a birthday. Youll be on day shift,
wear your uniform, stay close to the animatronics, make sure they
dont hurt anyone okay []
Okay, so Springtrap was used to commit murders, and the day guard was
killed when the endoskeleton springs malfunctioned and send various metal
parts into him. Now the animatronics are very upset and dead-set on
revenge. We make it through the night, and are on guard for the birthday
party. The bite of 87 occurs during the party, or sometime shortly after. The
player is hospitalized for three months, which is why the paycheck is dated in
November when the game takes place over the summer. This is also why the
paycheck after night seven is much smaller and addressed to a different
personsomeone had to cover after you were bitten. Simply, the
animatronics could not take it anymore on day seven during the birthday
party (or shortly after), and mistook you for the killer because you were
dressed in uniform AND working the day shift. They bit you, trying to kill
you, resulting in the bite of 87. BAM, FNAF 2 explained. There is still the
marionette, however, that has not been explained. There are a lot of
theories out there that I wont cover for the sake of brevity. In regards to
Foxy being a good guy, I believe he is. He doesnt seem menacing toward
the player, and he is phone guys favorite. Perhaps when they were trying to
rebuild Foxy, they had the face recognition system installed before they

decided to scrap him. If the day guard doesnt know about this, he would not
bother to tamper with the system, thus making him the only character that
can still differentiate between the player and the day guard. I dont know if
its the truth, but its certainly plausible.
FNAF the original doesnt have much information, other than that the player
is a new person and phone guy dies. Phone guy does ask the player to
check the suits in the back sometime because he has always wondered
what was back there. I think he knows he is going to be stuffed into a suit,
and he wants his body to be found. Also, he might have suspicions about
where the missing bodies of the children went, since they were never found.
Keep in mind that the endoskeletons of the original suits were collapsible
(FNAF 3) so that an employee could climb in. They could have been
collapsed, the children stuffed in, and then opened back up so that the
animatronics could move as usual without suspicion.
FNAF 3 cleared up A TON. Purple guy is for sure the killer, and the children
got their revenge when they possessed the suits and cornered purple guy in
the back room. He panicked and got into the suit, thinking they would be
more afraid of him due to their horrible memories of death linked to that suit.
This all backfired on him, however, when the suits endoskeleton
malfunctioned and he was impaled, leading to his death. So why are the
animatronics still possessed? They dont want revenge, they want peace.
Im not sure if the bodies are ever given a proper burial (probably not), but
the mini games where the animatronics give the children cake is a hint that
they just needed to be cheered up. Cake is a lousy apology for murder, but it
makes the children feel more at peace. Plus, theyre kids, and they like cake.
By giving the children cake, it releases their souls and allows them to be free.
This is evident because in the bad ending, there are five sets of glowing eyes
in the animatronic heads, but in the good ending scene, the lights are all
gone. One head is not visible at all on the good ending, and there are a lot
of possibilities for who that head is. It could be the marionette, but that
seems unlikely. Much more probable is that its Golden Freddy. Golden
Freddy is the fifth dead child, hinted at in the Give Gifts Give Life mini game
in FNAF 2, and more heavily suggested in the final mini game in FNAF 3
where the childrens souls are released. If it was Golden Freddy, however, it
would be logical that we could also see the head in the good ending when
the eyes are unlit, but we cannot. The head is entirely gone, which means it
could be Springtrap. In the bad ending, the head is lurking behind the
others, rather than in line with them. This could represent the fact that the

head is the animatronic pursuing the children, AKA Springtrap. When the
good ending happens, it is completely invisible, because the menace of
Springtrap is finally gone.
