Process:
I first took an pink image of a heart, altered the colors in a red, yellow, blue color schweme, and
changed the sizes. I then took 3 additional images and blended them into the center of the hearts.
I changed the opacity to about 65% and flattened the images. . I then placed them over a larger
image of an outstretched palm. I kept the opacity at 100 % for the hand, and then added a text box
with a quote from the book of Hebrews. While blending in the hearts into the image using masks, I
accidentally created a glowing effect of the hearts. I decided I liked the effect and continued to do
the same with the remainder of the heart images.

Objectives:
Create three completely different, original logos to fit a company or personal image that will
appeal to the audience.
Logos created were new concepts created entirely from scratch, not using any pre-made parts.
Process:
First, I sketched several different ideas on paper. I then picked the top three and began recreating
them in Illustrator using the various shape tools and direct select tool. Each design began with an
ellipse. I used the triangle shape tool to create the different features of the cats, such as the nose
and ears. The stripes on the middle logo were made using the pen tool. I then manipulated the
lines to line up with the tail that was created in the same manner. The whisked in all of the logos
were created using the line tool. I choose a 2 or 3 point line and made the lines taper at both sides
of the individual whiskers. They were then placed on a side of the nose, then mirrored.
I used the same techniques on the bottom logo, but I placed a few additional anchor points
on one side of the ellipse and altered these using direct select. I then mirrored the image after
deleting a couple anchor point on the opposite side. This was to make sure that the adjustments
could be seen and not the original ellipse.
I then added color and then company name in various fonts before choosing the ones I did.

Process:
First, using Illustrator, I created the white barbell logo to use for my brochure. I then made a twosided, off-centered pages with InDesign
Using Photoshop and mainly InDesign, I was able to create a bi-folding brochure and manipulate
images to place into my design. After organizing the layout and the images as well as the other
elements, I began to add text boxes to my pages. The front text was the title and did not need to
be wrapped along images, but the text inside the brochure, on the right hand side, needed to do
so. I changed the settings of those images to allow text to align to the left of them.the same with
the remainder of the heart images.

Process:
Using Microsoft Word, I inserted a scanned image of a Caribbean island. From there, I noted
that the scan had an older appearance. Because of this decade-old look with a faded yellow
appearance, I opted to use a retro color scheme that was inspired by the 80s television show,
Miami Vice.
I wanted to use the entire image so I adjusted it to fit the page. From there, I began adding text
boxes in randomly selected colors in the chosen color scheme. I made the fonts contrast inside to
help make the test stand out. I also outlined the text boxes with different colors that also reflected
the scheme. I made the boxes at least 50% transparent and layer them over one another.
I used repetition to tie the look together, so there are various rectangles on the flier. Also, in using
repetition, I also created a focal point with the longer, thinner rectangles to draw the eye to the
coconut ball text. This was done in an asymmetrical manner. The lines do not line up or make a
pattern. I wanted the information box to stand out on its own. In doing so, I make a text circle.

Description:
Black and white flier for my visual communications course. It is a redo of a flier for a leadership
conference.

Process:
I began sketching designs on paper and choose the most appealing. I then created the shapes
and lines using mainly InDesign and Adobe Illustrator. I wanted the words graduate leadership
to standout and to make an impact with Copperplate Gothic Bold, yet wanted to soften it up with
changing the word conference to Monotype Corsiva.
I did not want the flier to have only horizontal and vertical lines, so I added black triangles in
the upper left and lower right corners to keep the balance, but to sort of draw the eye towards
the middle. Initially, I had sold bars across the top and bottom, extending into the triangles, but
I found it to be too dark and left little white space. I instead, opted to use the rectangles, but to
fade them off into the corners that did not contain the triangles. I also wanted to separate the
text a bit, to emphasize some of the important information.
While I was given a library of images to use. I also choose carefully, because many of them did
not relay leadership roles. The group images did not show this, and the image of the women
slumping over did not feel confident to me. Eventually, I choose the image of the tall man,
shoulder high, back straight and opening his chest felt like a confident individual, someone who
best represents leadership.
While there is a block of elements that are centered, a design no-no, the elements within are not
centered, with the exception of the text box asking the question. I also tried using smaller text,
but it did not look right and feedback given suggested to increase font size. I tried increasing the
other elements, but then the design looked too crowded and left very little white space.

Notepad ++
Objectives:
Process:
Using Notepad++, I altered a given CSS stylesheet to reflect the needs of my website. Photoshop
was used to find the hex code for the colors, so that I could use my color scheme in my website.
After altering the content and other elements of the site, I added the stylesheet to the HTML
document. Once I was satisfied with the results, I checked for functionality of the site in my
Chrome browser to check for errors and color discrepancies.
I then went back to reorganize the content on the page. I wanted to leave negative space around
the logo to make sure that it stood out over the text.
Once I felt that it appeared the way I liked, I then validated my code using the W3C validator and
corrected any errors that was found.

Objectives:
Process:
After taking many photos, I choose the one that I was drawn to and studied the colors it contained.
There were many color schemes I could have chosen for the project, but only one seemed to go
well with the image. Using Photoshop, I implemented there colors around the image and added a
quote that seemed to match the image.
Initially, I used a split complementary scheme with blue, brick and gold, but after peer review, I
learned that the blue was too distracting and went with an alternative scheme that is used in the
above image.
When altering the photo, the tree was already somewhat highlighted so I added a bit more to draw
out the tree even more, to draw the eye towards it.

Process:
I first created the logo in Illustrator to implement on my letter head. The logo was then placed into
image boxes and then adjusted to the size that I wanted.
I then used typography to finish the rest of the logo. After this was done, I added a line under the
newly created logo from left to right. On the left, the logo remained, while I placed the business
owners name above the line, to the right of the page. Below this line, I added the contact info.
I then placed an image into an image box and placed the couple so that they would be aligned
to the right. Since the image was not large enough to span across 8.5 inches, and stretching it
distorted the picture, I ended up blending the left edge of the picture to fade into the page. I then
adjusted the opacity of the image to 20%.

I first created the logo in Illustrator to implement on my business card. The logo was then placed

I then used typography to finish the rest of the logo. After this was done, I added a line under the

I then placed an image into an image box and placed the couple so that they would be aligned to

me see where to place my elements on the card and to show the size of the card.
I then placed a copy of the logo onto the card and added the text.
