Brochure
Description:

Folding, double-sided brochure for a company

Date:

3/28/15

Course/ Instructor:
COMM 130 Section 3
Cory Kerr

Programs:

Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator

Objectives:

Learn to use Adobe programs together and create a unique layout that used
the principles of design.

Process:

Using tools in Photoshop, I edited five Dr. Seuss characters so they would
blend well together in a brochure design. I placed all of the pictures together
in Photoshop, and then brought the design in as an image to InDesign,
where I added the text and made sure the measurements were correct. I
used Illustrator to create the library logo in the middle pannel of the blue
side of the brochure.

Web Page

Programs:

Adobe Photoshop, Notepad

Objectives:

Learn to use Adobe programs together and create a unique layout that used
the principles of design.

Process:

To begin with, I resized the logo that I had previously created in Photoshop.
In Notepad, I used basic html to set up the outline and content of the page.
I wrote my content in bullets and divided it into sections to make it easy to
read. I created css document for the styling. I added a background image
for some emphasis on my theme, then I gave the body a max-width. I also
added a margin at the top and the bottom so there would be enough white
space around my content.
I chose my fonts and colors to match my logo. I added styling to make my
logo centered, as well as the page heading. I linked this style sheet into my
html document and then created another style sheet with a max-width of
700 pixels and adjusted the margins, and font and image sizes so that the
design was responsive.

Letterhead

Programs:

Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator

Objectives:

Create a letterhead design with a consistent theme.

Process:

For my logo, I decided to create a glass, pouring water. In Illustrator, I

used rectangles and elipses to make the glass and water. I used different
shades of blue with lowered opacity. I added the text and then placed the
logo onto the letterhead.
I added the company information and the two blue dots at the top and
bottom. Then I added a larger image of the logo without the text and
with lowered opacity for the watermark.

Programs:

Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator

Objectives:

Create a business card that incorporates the logo created.

Process:

In Illustrator, I used the rectangle tool to draw two rectangles. I used the anchor
tool to round one of the corners of the rectangle. Then I placed the complete
logo on the top one, adding the two blue dots to make the card have the same
theme as the letterhead. On the other side, I added the logo without the words. I
made this image larger than the previous one and reduced the opacity so I could
put text over it.

Programs:

Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:

Use Photoshop to blend two pictures together.

Process:

I used a picture of two kids for the background and then found a butterfly
to add onto the picture. I removed the background of the butterfly and then
placed a couple of them on the picture and reduced the opacity and added
masks so I could soften the edges. I also faded the outside edge of the big
image and added the quote that I liked.
