Youngleadershavegreatforesightandareatremendousinspirationforthenextgeneration.Theyhavetheability

toseewithacoupleofyear'shindsightthechallengesthattheiryoungpeersfaceandwhatsupportstheyneedto
becomethenextmoralleaders.ThisisexactlywhatRileyBirdsongRowles,asenioratEagleValleyHighSchool
(EVHS),hasdone.Rileyhasincredibledirectionforhisfutureandhassetveryhighexpectationsandgoalsfor
himself.HehasreceivedhissenatorrecommendationtohopefullyentertheNavalAcademythisfallwithalonger
termgoalofbecominganofficerintheU.S.MarineCorpsandeventuallytobecomeapharmacist.Rileytakesthis
responsibilityseriously,knowingthatstrongmoralcharacterisapartofhisfutureandhasmadeitasignificant
partofhispresent.

Rileylivesalifefocusedonhonorandloyalty.Heseeslyingasstealingthetruthfromsomeoneelse.Healsosees
loyaltyasbeinghonorabletofriendsandothersanimportantpartofthemilitary.Rileyhasbeenhonorableand
loyaltothemanygroupsheisinvolvedwithEVHSfootball,trackandfield,Linkcrew,DevilsAgainst
DestructiveDecisions(DADD),FellowshipofChristianAthletes,DECA/FutureBusinessLeadersofAmerica,
YouthLeadersCouncil,andtheVictimImpactPanel.Rileyputshisallintotheseactivitiesandhaslittletimeleft

environmentinwhichyoucansafelydiscloseyourinnerthoughtsandfeelings,understandwhyyou'refeelinganxiousordepressed,discoveropportunitiesto
seeyourselfdifferentlythanyoucurrentlydo,andcreateeffective,positive,andlastingchange.

Forthepast3years,TheSamaritanCounselingCenter'sSchoolBasedProgramhasprovidedmentalhealththerapistsinEagleCountySchools.Thisprogram
helpsstudentswhodonothaveinsuranceorhavedifficultyinaccessingcounselingoutsideofschool.Ourpassionforworkingwiththesestudents,their
familiesandschoolstaffisourwayofgivingbacktothecommunity.Wehaveserved115studentsatBerryCreekMiddleSchool,HomestakePeakSchool,
EdwardsCharterAcademy,EagleValleyMiddleSchool,GypsumCreekMiddleSchoolandBattleMountainHighSchoolsofarthisschoolyear.
