Performance
The thermometers shall have the following performance.
Readings
Thermometers, as a finished product, shall be immersed in an inspection liquid up to a level
below the screw of the insertion cylinder (until the maximum immersion level if it is specified), readings
at suitable three graduations within the scale range are compared with those on the standard thermometer,
and the mean value of differences of readings (instrumental errors) at these graduations shall stay within
the unit scale reading shown in Table 2.
Pressure resistance
A pressure resistance test shall be carried out by applying a test pressure 2 times
the working pressure to the insertion cylinder from outside, and every part shall be free from
abnormalities.

6.
Construction, shape and dimensions
The construction, shape and dimensions shall be as given in
Fig. 1 and shall conform to the following requirements.
a)
The external diameter and the length below the neck of the insertion cylinder shall be as shown in Table
3.
b)
The scale shall be colored black, and shall be clear and hard to discolor or fade off. The scale
representing 0C or less may be colored red.
C shall clearly be indicated as the symbol of the temperature unit.

Materials The materials shall be as follows.

Protective frame
The materials of protective frames shall have heat and corrosion resistance, and
strength suitable to the places of application of thermometers. Thermometers shall be treated with
galvanizing and other surface treatments according to their application environment if necessary.
Protective tube
The materials of protective tubes shall have sufficient thermal conductivity.
However the application of thermometers without the protective tube shall be in accordance with
agreement among the parties concerned.
Insertion cylinder
The materials of the insertion cylinders shall be as shown in Table 4.
