valves (hereinafter referred to as level gauge) to be used for marine water tanks and oil tank to which the
requirements of SOLAS do not apply.
2.

3.
Classification
The level gauge shall be classified into A (for steel pipes), A (for copper pipes), B and
C Types according to the shape of upper body.
4.
Construction, shape and dimensions
The construction, shape and dimensions of level gauge shall be
as shown in Fig. 1. However, Fig. 1 shows the level gauge with a joint. The permissible deviation of thickness
of the upper and lower bodies and the joint body shall, as a rule, be within 0.5 mm. The dimensions of use
tubular glass shall be 160.5 mm in outside diameter.

Tests and inspections
6.1
General tests and inspections
Following test shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements
of JIS F 7400.
a)
Material inspection
b)
Visual inspection
c)
Dimensional inspection
d)
Assembly inspection
e)
Hydraulic inspection
The hydraulic inspection shall be carried out at the following test pressures:
1) Hydraulic inspection for upper and lower bodies, and joint bodies
0.7 MPa
2) Watertight inspection for valve seat

Remarks: 1. The assembly drawing and dimensions for H and H1 are shown as examples, and the purchaser may specify
number of joints; number, length and materials of tubular glasses; and the protector (Refer to Reference
Figs. 2).
2. The dimensions H and H1 for the joint of one or more are shown in the case where the tubular glasses of
same length are combined, but if necessary, glasses of different length may be used in properly
combination.
3. The maximum length of one tubular glass is preferably 600 mm for the inorganic or tempered glass to
prevent fracture, and 2000 mm for the glass taking its thermal expansion into account. In these cases,
however, it is desirable to fit the glass supports at the maximum intervals of 600 mm (p).
4. When the length of tubular glass is equal, the dimensions for H and H1 are as follows:
The dimensions h, h1 and h2 for the length (L) of the tubular glass:
h =L + 30
h1 =L + 25
h2=L + 40
for cases without joint
H=L+30
H1=L+45
5. The calculated mass is the weight of upper body, lower valve and joint, and the weight of tubular glass and
protector is not inclusive.
