Engineering Notes
Demonstration vessel constructed to ASME BPVC Sec. VIII Div.1 Edition 2013.
Vessel is designed with only part subjected to radiography.
Vessel is made of carbon steel, 1mm inner corrosion allowance is assumed.
Design is performed for most severe conditions of pressure and temperature
expected during normal operation.
Vessel is to be mounted in horizontal position.
Shop hydrotest in horizontal position. Test pressure includes static head for pressure gauge mounted on nozzle N4.

Notes:
(1) NI indicates that test stress was not investigated.
(2) PL stresses at nozzle openings have been estimated using the method described in Division 2 Part 4.5.
(3) 1.5*0.9*Sy used as the basis for the maximum local primary membrane stress at the nozzle intersection PL.
(4) The zero degree angular position is assumed to be up, and the test liquid height is assumed to the top-most
flange.
The field test condition has not been investigated for the Chamber bounded by Ellipsoidal Head #1 and ASME
B16.5/16.47 Blind on Flange #1.

The test temperature of 20 C is warmer than the minimum recommended temperature of -31 C so the brittle
fracture provision of UG-99(h) has been met.
