The public schools and the private schools hold a dual athletic meet to select the
athletes who will represent the province in the regional athletic meet.
5. Regional Athletic Meet
- Is held with contingents coming from all the school divisions within the region
participating.
- The region aims to select the best players from all these divisions to form the
contingent to the Palarong Pambansa or the National Athletic Meet.
6. National Athletic Meet or the Palarong Pambansa
- Held annually
- Every region in the country sends its delegation to this grand affair.
- It is in the Palaro that the best players in the country at the school level are identified
and given recognition.
- From this group of the most outstanding athletes, the National Sports Association
invites some to undergo try outs, and if selected, are taken in as national athletes and
are trained for international competitions.
DRUG EDUCATION- NARCOTICS
NARCOTICS are called hard drugs. These are depressants which cause serious effects on the
central nervous system of a person.

COMMON NARCOTICS
1. Opium- is drawn from a kind of plant called opium poppy that thrives in a hot climate with
little rain. It is popular known as panocha, gum, sleep or death, gamut and kalamay.
2. Morphine- is a fine white feathery powder made from opium. It contains an alkaloid
compound of opium that relieves pain.
3. Codeine- is a derivative of morphine. It is commonly available in cough preparation.
4. Heroin- is the most addictive morphine derivative. It is three to five times more powerful
than morphine. Addiction to heroin can be developed within 14 days of continued drug use
that leads to serious illness, even death.
