Write with light

GOOD NEWS!

Miniatures painting
= painting light

so you all are photographers

THE ART OF
NEUTRALITY
Photographing miniatures is not an art. Painting the miniature is
the art. The photographs should show the miniature the most
honest and real as possible without any interpretation.

What makes a miniatures

photograph great?

Right exposure
Sharp deep of field
Global, neutral & soft light
A great miniature :-)

Underexposed

Right exposed

Overexposed

The focus is on the gun,

not interesting

The focus is on the face,

better but not yet there

The whole miniature is

in focus

Shadow and highlights created by the

ambient light, not by the painter

THE LIGHT

Light we experience it everyday.

When there is any light there is nothing. We observe it since
we are kids but its still so hard to understand and master.

The law of light

The inverse square law

INTENSITY OF LIGHT IS INVERSELY

PROPORTIONAL TO THE SQUARE OF THE
DISTANCE FROM THE SOURCE OF THE LIGHT

Me to physics
and mathematics

The light intensity decreases slower

than the distance between the subject
of the light source

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

nope wasnt just to make you think Im smarter than you believe.Im not :-)

HARD LIGHT VS SOFT LIGHT

To read light,
read shadows.
